iPhone 4S "no service" problem

hello all,

Just got my iPhone 4S 18hrs ago and it wen to "no service" like 3 times (so far)!!

  • I have changed carrier setting to manual I can select my network but still "no service"
  • I turned on then off "airplane mode" it goes searching... then "no service"
  • it only work when I restart or reinsert the SIM

Is this common? do I have to worry ?

Appreciate your inputs.

I had the same problem today, once I put the phone on airplane mode then turned it off it showed service again. If this continues I will take it back to the store.

Guys, it seems to many people having the same problem for different reasons.. i guess. It's frustrating when you get the new iPhone 4S just to solve the reception problem in iPhone 4 and it turns it's even worse.

My guess: I don't think the problem in the device, it could be from from your SIM or from your mobile carrier.. you may try to reset your network settings from Rest menu in General or setup your iPhone as new device [don't restore from iPhone 4] it might work.

My problem is solved [ I was this close to return my iPhone 4S to Apple for replacement] then I thought why not to try to change my SIM... thank god it worked 🙂 try to do the same.

all the best,

Abdullah

i have the same problem since the 5.0.1, updated last night, went out directly and could not connect to my carrier (turkcell - turkey) except sporadic occasions...

the phone worked ok before the update btw... i hope apple releases another quick update addressing this issue, since it is always better to be able to use your phone at all compared to being able to use it with a fast draining battery... 🙂

Same problem here. Everything fine until updating to iOS 5.0.1 then BIG signal problems. Dropped calls, invalid SIM messages and unable to do anything over 3G. Tried most of the solutions above. Now got a new SIM and done a full restore. Looks ok at the moment but that's happened a few times before dropping again before now so fingers crossed. If it doesn't work I've got a genius bar appointment this evening so we'll see how it goes!

Please sort this out Apple - there are obviously a few of us!
