Jan 7, 2012 8:01 AM in response to abds2000by M Ali UAE,I just had a question about my iPhone 4..
4 days ago, my phone decided to go into no service mode...I was away travelling out of the country.
i'm using a Du sim in the United Arab Emirates(UAE), and have had absolutely no problems at all for the past 14 months or so, I have even had immaculate signal in underground parking areas.
needless to say, i was in shock when it went into no signal.
i researched and researched, and i took the sim card in and out of the phone, reset networks, rebooted, restarted, EVERYTHING!
and still no signal, just searching.... no signal everytime...NEED HELP in the UAE! My love for this phone is turning into HATE -

Jan 9, 2012 8:18 AM in response to abds2000by spadge007,I am experiencing this problem also. I have had my iPhone 4S swapped twice and upgraded to 4A906 and I still get the No Service problem when I am at home which has good reception.
I updated my wife's iPhone 4 to 5.0.1 (9A405) over Christmas and that phone also got the NoService message. I downgraded the phone back to 4.3.3 and the NoService error has not appeared since.
Unfortunately we cant downgrade iPhone 4S to 5.0 as I believe that would fix the problem. I have also tried the latest 5.1 beta 2 build and I still experienced the same problems.
My sim in a Windows phone (HTC HD7) works great (rules out sim card) and if I use a SIM from another network provider I have no problems.
I wonder if it is a network / software problem.

Jan 9, 2012 10:37 AM in response to spadge007by efab,hi there,
i experienced this problem on my 4s, even after the (9A406) was installed by apple.
so, i switched back to my iphone4 and had a new sim card placed and registered by at&t.
my iphone 4 now does this issue with 5.0.1 (9A405) software.
how can i downgrade my iphone 4 back to earlier software like you did for your wife?
thanks.

Jan 10, 2012 1:11 AM in response to efabby spadge007,iOS 5.1 beta 3 was released by Apple last night for Developers which includes another baseband update. Hopefully this might resolve this annoying problem.
efab: When a new iOS is released the old version is no longer signed by Apple so you cannot simply point iTunes to the ipsw file. If you do you will get an error in iTunes that the version is no longer valid.
You need to save your SHSH blobs which are unique to the phone and iOS version using utilities like iFaith or Tiny Umbrella (|Google them). Without the SHSH files there is nothing you can do.

Do not do the update to 5.0.1 (5A406) it does not fix the problem. I believe the problem was caused by the 5.0.1 baseband update (1.4.00) which has not been fixed in any public release.
I have just installed 5.1 beta 3 today which includes the latest iPhone 4S baseband update (1.5.01). I will post if the problem is resolved.

Jan 10, 2012 3:09 AM in response to alinisarby spadge007,To install beta releases your iPhones UDID has to be registered against an Apple Developer account (costs $99 per year). I test internal apps developed by the company I work for so my UDID is registered.
If you install a beta release and apple do not have the UDID registered your phone could become bricked by Apple until the official update is released.

Jan 10, 2012 4:24 AM in response to abds2000by Thotil,Ive had this problem for almost a week now. Tried a factory reset, switching simcards, downloading a older backup, reset all network settings. Nothing works.
By the way, this is a iphone 4! Seems like the IOS 5.0.1 is the reason for this.

Jan 10, 2012 4:36 AM in response to Thotilby spadge007,Check your baseband version, is it 04.11.08 (GSM). I think that is the version installed by iOS 5.0.1 update.
Check by tapping Settings > General > About > Modem Firmware
My Wife's iPhone 4 doesn't display NoService as often but it takes multiple attempts to receive phone calls. The iOS 5.1 beta 3 firmware updates the baseband to 04.12.01 which might fix this problem on the iPhone 4.
I am testing tonight on my 4S and if it works I will try the latest beta on the iPhone 4 also.
