Just got my iPhone 4S 18hrs ago and it wen to "no service" like 3 times (so far)!!

  • I have changed carrier setting to manual I can select my network but still "no service"
  • I turned on then off "airplane mode" it goes searching... then "no service"

Have the same problem. Everytime I receive a phone call or the phone is in standby mode I lose signal. It. Only works again if I turn it off and on.

SERIOUSLY! I'm gonna hang myself very soon, because of this issue! Finally when I get a signal and it doesn't go off, I can't make or receive calls like my phone is turned off, but I can still send messages and receive those as well! But if I turn off my signal by flight mode, or doing anything that makes my signal go away, it'll say NO SERVICE and then I have to pop my sim in and out for half an hour, BECAUSE YOU APPLE DO NOT CARE ABOUT US!

Oh, and by the way, sometimes when I get a signal it just stays there for 3 secs, then I have to continue popping out my sim and in again (my method of getting the signal) so I can get the **** signal fulltime!!!

So whats the deal? Is apple going to fix this anytime soon? Mine started doing this yesterday and hasn't stopped. Until now I have never wanted to get rid of my iphone. Come on apple, you ahve known about this since November.

I am trying to get rid of my iPhone 4S as we speak. No support from Apple, and the carrier won't take it back, so I am selling it on Craigslist. Also it will be my last Apple product. I have had 4 iPhone 4S's for multiple issues. I spend 3 weeks with the "No Service" message, the Safari cache thing, then this weekend the phone's battery started to drain like crazy. In standby overnight it dropped 20%. I was told that this is "normal." I have no problem but we will exchange it for you if that will make you happy.

My calls to Applecare recently are the worst example of customer service I have ever heard of. The way I am treated by every Senior Advisor I have talked to makes me think that Apple trains the Senior Advisor's to try and intimidate the customer if they don't just agree with what they are told. I would try and explain my point of view and he would talk aggressively over me as if I would just shut up and go away. It wasn't just once, it wan't just twice, it was every time I would try and talk. This was the case with all Senior Advisor's I have talked to since November. In my opinion, based on the experiences with Apples' employees, Apple is ALWAYS right and the customer is ALWAYS wrong. That is no way to run a customer service experience. I really want to resolve this but have little faith in Apple at this point.

I pay premium for Apple products. I don't expect perfect, but I do expect usable and honest. I do expect to be treated with respect when I feel like I have an issue. I don't see those points in Apple anymore. I know that a single customer no longer matters to Apple but a mass exit of single customers will hurt Apple. I see it happening sooner than later unfortunately. Saying good bye and not looking back. Good Luck to all those with all the issues!

    Here is what I notice...

When the network switches from 3G to Edge, the signals drop from 5 bars to none.  This happens each time the network switches between the two resulting in drop calls and signal loss.  It never use to be this way! It use to maintain the 5 bars of signal and switch between 3G to Edge and vice versa smoothly...   Apple fix this bug.

I switched the SIM card today (Rogers) network.  They blame Apple. Apple blames Rogers.   It's happening with every network, so I am taking Rogers side.  Apple fix this bug.

The No Service / Searching bug when you come out of a non servicable area to a servicable area and still have no signal?  I blame Apple.  Why you ask?  Because I tested with other iPhones and other non Apple products on same network and different networks and only iPhone on iOS 5.x has this issue!  Apple fix this bug.

Battery issue? Apple fix this bug.

Wi-Fi connection issues?  Apple fix this bug.

Audio issues?  Apple fix this bug.

iPhone 4S and iOS released in October. We are approaching February!  Apple fix these issues in a more timely manner.

    Tim Cook = FAILURE.

We want STEVE JOBS back!  Apple you may have sold millions this quarter, but understand, you are ******* people off by not coming clean and next year people will flock to Windows and Android because of your stupidity!  Enjoy my money today, because tomorrow you ain't getting a dollar from me.

Okay, so I called the apple support and they were useless. So I did go to the apple store, got my phone fixed and found how to to fix the problem. Apparently when the 5.0 software came out is when this started happening. They then put out a 5.1 update however the only way to get the update is to do a factory restore. Follow the steps below and it should fix the problem

Plug your phone into itunes, then click on the restore. Restore it to the factory settings.

Once that is done just you will need to unplug the phone from the computer and then plug it back in (unless you can just do it without unpluging it) Once you do that it will offer for you to update the phone off your previous back up. Do that and once it is all done your good to go. It only took them 10-15 minutes to do mine.

    Haven't had the problem since.

I have no idea why you have to do this way but that is what the tech at the apple store did. Good luck.

Apple is good with smoke and magic. Don't think or believe that they hadn't seen anything before. For some people this 5.0.1(9A406) restore has worked. For some it worked for X amount of time, then issue surfaced again. For some it made things worse. I hope you have good luck though. Don't be too quick to drink the Kool-Aid though

    Hi everyone!

so , the only thing that worked for me is changing a phone at Tmobile. I got a new piece and it works so far.

I believe there will be no official solution from apple until 5.1 update.

that ***** a lot - MICROSOFT IS SO MUCH BETTER in supporting their customers.

All in all, I have HD2 and Iphone 4S, after 2 months of usage - I do not see a reason to replace my old good HTC with shiny, but crappy ihpone.

Same problem here in ukraine, everytime my iphone lose the network. Apple solve this big problem. phones that cost real big money and are unable to call, then who needs them? then it is better to buy a samsung galaxy s 2 and have no problems with calls, because the main function of phone to make calls!!! Now it is our problem but tomorrow it will be your (APPLE) problem, because tomorrow no one wants to buy your products.

I had a similar problem. the 4S would lose signal and go into 'no service' mode. When this happened it would sometimes hold a 2G signal at a low level, but 3G disappeared completely. I tried the 'airplane mode' and 'sim pin' fixes but they did not work.

So, I re-installed iOS 5.0.1 (9A406) using iTunes rather than over the air and set up as 'new phone'. This brought back full 2G and 3G service with good signal strength. I used the 'phone for 3 days in bare bones mode with no apps or calendar and addressbook. Worked perfectly.

I then syncd address book and calendar with iCloud. No problems. Finally I re-installed my apps. That was about ten days ago and everything is still OK. I guess what happens is that a system app gets corrupted - no idea which one or how - and its the corrupted app which causes the problem. Clean installation and re-setting as a new 'phone clears the problem, or did so in my case. Apple needs to work on the source of the corruption and fix it.

Since the re--install my battery life has also improved.

I'm on vodafone in the UK.

Looks like Apple just removed my post and sent me an email that it violated the terms of Apple.

That said, Apple is monitoring the forums folks!

They know of the issues and keep your voices heard.  This is great news!

It's the best message of the day!  Apple is well aware of the situation.  Fix your buggy iOS Apple...

I'm still wondering that after 2 months of problems nothing happened. Really, I have my iphone 4S since november and I'm getting crazy. Two months and no possibility tu use that expensive crap as a phone. On sunday, I restore my iphone again, I put another simcard into it and for 2 minutes there were signal and I also got 2 msg. Then again nothing. Really nice. Again and again, I have no idea what to do and I really thought that apple is careful about these bugs and cares about customers. Haha, no way. They don't care. Thank you and thank you for my great iphone 4S which is useless.
