Q: iPhone 4S "no service" problem

It's an iTouch 4S!  It doesn't work as a phone so you can't call it an iPhone!  If it worked as an phone, we would, so from here on in,... until Apple fixes our iTouch S... it's an iTouch S!

I can confirm the "No Service" message. I can also confirm that this problem, for me, started after the 5.0.1(9A405). The Tech Update with 9A406 didn't fix the problem.

Is this such an "advanced piece of technology" that I don't know how to hold it? Let me guess: It is my fault that my phone doesn't work or we all are just making these things up to hate on Apple.

I bought this to use as a reliable cell phone. When you have to turn the phone off and on to get signal back, it is not reliable. I thought that it would get decent battery life. When it drains dead within hours, there is a problem. I saw it work, not as stated by Apple, but it also wasn't draining dead within hours and getting hot. I didn't change anything and the battery just started excessively discharging.

i got the same problem! n then i got it changed from apple! now the new one is working perfectly fine

My problem got fixed after I did the restore and update.  It didn't solve the problem the first time but it did the second one. I've been able to use it trouble free for the past two weeks.

MuGeN PoWeR, how did you manage to change your 4s. I am 4S user in Turkey however I bought my 4S from Toronto. Although I have original invoice I can manage to change in Istanbul/Turkey. Must I go to a country which has Apple Store?

Itruj, I tried to solve my problem by using the below link, nothing changed. Is there a trick that I miss while restoring?

There is no trick. It works for some and doesn't work for others.

I have had 3 new phones. All the same crap

No, no special tricks. I did have to use an older back up tp restore since the last one I had itunes was telling me was corrupt. I guess I got lucky I think....

I'm having this issue as well, but I'm using 4.. It's really frustrating when it keeps showing no service! Tried many ways like restarting the phone, re-insert the SIM, reset the network settings! But the same problem is still there! Tried restoring the phone as well, it'll be fine for few days and the problem came back AGAIN! None of my friend in the same area is having this problem! What the **** is wrong with it?

My experience with my 2 days old iPhone 4S is pathetic .. "No Service" is eating my. And to worsen the situation .. at times .. it keeps on showing service  and the moment .. I unlock the phone it would end up in "No Service" mode.

I switched the phone from Automatic to Manual carrier selection .. and  its slightly better now ...

Same problem with the iphone 4S in Romania. I bought the iphone in november 2011 and i had no problem with him since 15.01.2012. From this date my phone is useless. my friends call me and say that my phone is closed. When i try to call i end up in "No service" and " Invalid sim". I even changed my sim card but the problem still remain. I am very dessapointed that apple can not solve this problem sice the problem is globally and i think that is the last iphone for me. It supose to be the best pohone in the world but is the WORST.

SHAME ON YOU APPLE.

Same problem with iPhone 4S in Colombia, all of a sudden, the phone goes to Searching... and then No service. The only way to fix it is restarting the phone. Also, everyday when I wake up, I get Invalid SIM. Cmon Apple! is it hardware or software problem?
