I have OS X 10.6.8 and want to access iCloud. It seems I need to upgrade to Lion. I've downloaded 10.7.2 but when i go to instal it the following Alert message comes up "This update requires Mac OS X version 10.7." What do I do about this?

It's obvious. You cannot install this from your 10.6.8, being it an update from 10.7, that's a major release, and not a simple update. You must buy 10.7 (or Lion) before; then, you can update 10.7 to 10.7.2.
I've just been on the App Store and there only seems to be Lion 10.7.2 available for puchase. How do I purchase 10.7?
It's regular. You buy directly 10.7.2, that's the latest 10.7 updated, therefore you don't need to update furthermore it. When a major release becomes updated, the release for buying is the latest, already updated.

But you've surely buyed the 10.7.2 package? Your message says: This update», and this marks that you have therefore the simple update, and not the «combo package». And you've have spent for it? I don't know what comes in your purchase. See if it contains the initial package, i.e. the 10.7, and then the 10.7.2 that's the update. If it's so, you must before install 10.7, and then update it with 10.7.2.
