Q: "Refresh iCloud" add-in/button disappeared from Outlook 2010 after I restarted iCloud Control Panel?

Hi,

When I first set-up iCloud to sync with Outlook, there was this handy "Refresh iCloud" button (an add-in) available in Microsoft Outlook 2010. Because of some unrelated problems, I decided to restart iCloud Control Panel by signing out and signing in again as well as uninstalling and installing again. I then loaded Outlook and the "Refresh iCloud" button disappeared (didn't even gray out or anything, just disappeared). What could have caused it to disappear? I believe everyone who syncs iCloud with Outlook will have this button available in Outlook, and I did - until I restarted iCloud Control Panel. How do I get it back?

Thanks in advance.

    mikeBMS,

I tried this in my Outlook 2016 but it does knowing. I restarted both Outlook 2016 and iCloud for Windows between the major steps. The iCloud Add-in that you were able to find and active in Outlook 2010, does not appear or show up in Outlook 2016. It may be that a new add-in is missing in iCloud 5.0 or a digital signature needed in the Trust Center is missing and or never created. Refresh worked fine in that version of Outlook as well as 2007 and 2013.

I am glad you solved your problem with activating the add-in.

Filmscope's concept seemed to work for me.  I have Outlook 2013 and Windows 7.

Right click on Outlook icon and Run as Administrator.

    Go to File/Options/Add-ins

At bottom of dialog click GO to Manage COM Add-ins

    Select iCloud Outlook Addin.

Note the location of the Addin.  Mine was C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Internet Services\APLZOD32.dll

    Click Remove.

Click add and locate the above noted .dll file and add it again.

It should now appear in your list of Addins again, already selected, and may already show on your Outlook menu bar in background.

Click OK.  The iCloud Addin shows and the Refresh should/may be blue.

To test, I closed and reopened Outlook, but not as Administrator.

So far, it seems to work fine.

Tried everything above, nothig worked for me but then found a rather simple solution:

For all those who have experienced the problem because of updating to Windows 10, here is how I solved the problem (Outlook 2010):

    1) Right-click on the Outlook 2010 Icon, go to Properties.

    2) Go to Compatibility

    3) Change Compatibility-Mode to Windows 8

    4) Restart Outlook

The iCloud Add-In should work again now!

This fixed my problem. Thank you! You have to close outlook for it to ask you to ok all the add-ins one at a time.

    Hi All,

I hoping that you all can help, I have the same problem my contacts and calendar are showing from icloud. here's were my issue becomes tricky. I do not have any of the add-on's listed in the Add-on options. I have spent close to 24 hours on and off with Microsoft & apple to no joy.

When I first installed the icloud control panel it was on the outlook ribbon but then I had email issues which I had to get Microsoft involve to fix.

they set a new email profile which now works but no icloud add-on, Microsoft told me that as my contacts and calendar folders on PC show icloud content it should sync, it doesn't. spoke to Microsoft again yesterday and they said it was an apple issue, rang apple they said it was a Microsoft issue.

my new computer is running windows 10 with Office 365

Never had any problems with windows 7 etc.

By what I have been reading some of you sound a lot smarter than each of there tech support centres.

My computer exp with coding and understanding add-ons etc is zero.

    Hoping someone can help.

Grrr! What a pain this is!   I've been successfully running Outlook 2010 with iCloud in Win 10 for many months.

Today I ended up in this ugly soup you have all been in.  Thought it had something to do with ios 10 on my phone but then realized that couldn't be it.  Saw the Ninite had updated iTunes - suspicious it mucked up a dll or reg setting.  Couldn't find any issues.

So I tried all the advice about uninstalling the iCloud addin & re adding it - numerous reboots of win 10 - Outlook 2010 and clicking/unclicking the contacts/calendar box on the iCloud app -- all no progress.

Then, on a Microsoft Win 10 support forum https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_outlook-mso_other/ic loud-add-in-will-not-load/950d3029-14ea-4bd8-8af5-e81ba58ba67c

I found a thread in there that said to run Outook 10 in Windows 8 compatibility mode.  How could that apply to me?  I've been running it in Win 10 for many months.  But, in desperation and with a ***, I tried it.  And it worked!!!

The add in is enabled, but the Refresh button does not appear and both contacts and calendar won't open in Outlook.  All this was working a couple of days ago, but I think MS did a Windows update.  I wonder if this might have caused the problem.
