Will The Sims 3 run on a Macbook Air (2011)?

I'm currently looking at getting a Macbook Air, particularly the base model ($999). I barely do any serious work on a laptop but I do love playing The Sims 3 though. The Air seems like a great choice because the design is just perfect for me but will it run Sims 3 fine or will it be laggy even at the lowest settings? Anyone ever tried it?

Thanks.

Hi LeoL,

Here are the tech specs:

FOR MAC OS X
  • Mac OS X 10.5.7 Leopard or higher
  • Intel Core Duo Processor
  • 2 GB RAM
  • ATI X1600 or Nvidia 7300 GT with 128 MB of Video RAM, or Intel Integrated GMA X3100.
  • At least 6.1 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB of additional space for custom content and saved games
  • This game will not run on PowerPC (G3/G4/G5) based Mac systems, or the GMA 950 class of integrated video cards.

That being said, the Intel HD 3000 even with the 256MB of shared RAM (the $999 doesn't use the 384MB that the other models do) is adequate. I've not played it much, only installed it to verify that it ran for a client. It runs "alright" and certainly enough to play. The minimum requirement model (GMA X3100) was the GPU that was used back in '08 by Apple so the one currently is definitely much more advanced. However, it's still a shared GPU and thus less than ideal for any serious or semi-serious gaming.
