iOS5 Upgrade done, now camera roll gone and Photos won't open?

We did the software upgrade, all went well and smooth. I tried to go into my camera roll through my pictures and it says that its empty? Also, when I click on the Photos app, it shows a white screen and then just closes back to the home screen.

The odd part is that my background picture is still there, I can take pictures and see them in the bottom right corner but when I attempt to view them it says empty.

Anyone out there that can help?

Thanks!

I have nearly the same problem.

Since the iOS5 upgrade I can't open my camera roll any more.

A new created album and all contacts were removed mysteriously.

If I try to open the camera roll, the screen gets white and jumps back to the home screen.

Same problem if I try to take a picture.

Settings > General > Info tells me that 2.147.483.647 Pictures are stored on my iPhone..

Bought it three weeks ago.

Many thanks in advance if someone could help.

I made an appointment at the Genius Bar at my local Apple store. I sure hope they can help! For the most part we have the pictures already on our computer so they are not lost... some are though.

I found another link and tried to follow the directions but I am so afraid of making things worse. Hopefully if I don't get any help here then they can help at the store.

Hey guys, i found a solution for our problem, at least it worked for me.

1- Download Iphone Explorer (does not need to be a jailbroken device)http://www.macroplant.com/iphoneexplorer/

2.) connect your iphone using the usb cable

3.) launch iphone explorer

4.) backup and then delete the following files:

/Media/PhotoData/MISC/Info.plist

/Media/PhotoData/Photos.sqlite (or /PhotoData/Photos.sqlite)

/Media/PhotoData/PhotosAux.sqlite (or /PhotoData/PhotosAux.sqlite)

5.) reboot your iphone

After you reboot your device, windows will prompt if you wan to open your iphone on windows explorer as usual. After you open it, your photos are going to be there, just like it was before update.

Just deleted only the 2 files that i listed above

and now I CAN TAKE PICTURES AND SEE IT.

but the joke remains: It has just the RIGHT ARROW, so i can just see the next photo, i can't "rewind" to see earlier photos!1 hhahahaha

almost like windows... i think the best thing to do is go back to IOS 4 and maybe kill the team who develop that IOS5...
