Are text messages stored in iCloud

Sorry, they are not backed up

i see on apple website that icloud backs up your:

photos videos device settings app data messages ( imessage, sms, and mms)

doesnt that mean that text messages are backed up.....

Where would you find them?

Your messages history IS included in your iCloud backup up. Swc64 is 100% correct. The iCloud.com web page does not however currently provide a means to browse through it though. If it would come down to needing to restore your iPhone from your iCloud backup, your messages history WILL be restored to the same point it was at the time your last backup was completed.

The things that won't be restored are media files sync'd to it from iTunes; like music/video in your iTunes library, picture folders you sync'd to your phone from your computer (that isn't counting your 'camera roll' photos album- camera roll is in the backup), and the passwords for your email accounts you have setup (that is just a matter of re-entering the passwords on your phone)

I'm interested in the same question.... so how thenwould you see your messages history if you restored your phone. how would you do that? and what does it mean for everything else on your phone? would you lose anything?

And also, if you restored the back up, would you see messages for example you deleted weeks ago? ie. that were already deleted accoreding to the latest back up but were there when it backed up a few weeks ago? like is there a back up history?

No. You don't have the option to exclude text messages from the backup, which is why it is not listed under backup options.
