iPhone Camera won't save photos/iPhoto can't see photos

My iPhone camera is having a lot of problems.

1. Photos the are clear when taken are blurry when reviewed.

2. When I try to delete a photo, it says "saving photo" instead.

3. Photos don't save properly.

4. Although I have 900 pics on my iPhone, iPhoto recognizes the iPhone but says there are no items.

I tried wiping the phone and restoring from back up, and restarting multiple times. Help!!!

iPhone 4, iOS 5

This describes EXACTLY the same issues I am having. In addition, you cannot use the photos for anything... upload into Facebook, email, MMS,e tc. I also have reset my phone (iPhone 4S running iOS5) to factory settings and the behavior continues. It is not the camera, it's the software that is an issue. I managed to get some photos that look blurry on the phone off onto my Mac and they look fine there. I sure hope Apple comes out with a fix soon b/c it's very frustrating to have an 8 MP camera on a brand new phone that you can't use for anything. I missed my daughter's very first Girl Scout memories b/c the phone didn't work.

Don't hold your breath. I have spent a total of 3 hours on the phone with apple and who KNOWS how many hours restoring my phone to factory settings and trying different things and nothing works.

It seems the issue is in the back-up file because if I restore to factory settings, the camera works fine. Apple has no solution to this issue so I had to email 750 photos to myself, then I'll have to wipe the phone, lose all my app content, all my text messages, and reorganize everything on my phone. I'm sure if I could delete the camera app, then redownload it, it would work fine, with no hassle to me, but that's not an option.

Thanks, apple. At this point, I almost want to go back to a simpler phone because this is ridiculous. Something shouldn't break out of the clear blue sky, for no reason, with no solution, or at least an apple product shouldn't.

I'm having the exact same problem. Additionally, in Settings->General->About it says I have over 2 billion photos on my phone (2147483647 to be exact).

I'm going in to the store I bought it from tomorro to request a replacement. Phone is only 2 days old and nearly completely stock. Not a very good experience for my first Apple product, I was expecting big things.

Same problem here too.

All working fine until today.

iPhone 4, <12 months old. Running iOS5.

760 photos on the camera roll, no albums.

Approx 100 photos taken since iOS upgrade.

Not using iCloud for photos.

Songs=4

Videos=11

Photos=2,147,483,647

Capacity=13.7GB

Available=9.0GB

Also noticed that Windows PC cannot see the device to access the photos stored.

Same problem here! All the issues are the same:

Blurry review pictures that were once clear.

Stuck in a "saving" mode when trying to delete a photo.

Says I have 2,147,483,647 photos. In fact that screen continuously loads and then displays for a second then loads data again

New pictures are not saving properly.

Etc.

Any fixes or links to work arounds?!?

Hi everyone.

I had the exact problems that you're all describing. Pictures getting pixly/blurred, camera app crashing, and at the end I couldn't even open the picture-viewer. I found this thread and was let down, but I continued searching for a tip and was rewarded.

This fix worked like a charm:

http://www.iphoneincanada.ca/how-to/how-to-fix-iphone-camera-roll-crash-and-phot os-turned-to-other-in-itunes/

It gives you a step by step-solution which was fairly simple to follow. Afterwards, my camera app works again just fine and I have no problems viewing my pictures.

And best of all, no restore or factory restore needed!

Good luck, best wishes from Sweden.

This worked!

summary:

Download an iphoneexplorer -http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/download-pc.php

go to photodata folder, delete this files,

  • com.apple.photos.caches_metadata.plist
  • Photos.sqlite
  • PhotosAux.sqlite

That's it.

I did this exactly, but never backed up those 3 files, which currently seems like it may have been a mistake because the :

"3. Restart your iPhone. Afterwards, my Camera Roll actually launched–but no photos were shown. Be patient, as the photo library will rebuild itself and all your images should appear minutes later."

step, i've been waiting for around 5 minutes, with a black screen (with the tool bar that shows time, service provider, and battery working properly) along the top. I guess I'll have to restore and try again xD
