Sync via VPN?

I programmed a VPN connection on my ipod to connect on my computer. It connects fine. But what can I do with this? Is it possible to sync my ipod when I'm not home on my network? So far I tried connecting my VPN on my ipod but iTunes (that I access via remote desktop) doesn't see it.. Is it at all feasible ?

I woukld say no because the manual says

When Wi-Fi syncing is turned on, iPod touch automatically syncs when it’s connected to a power

source, both iPod touch and your computer are connected to the same wireless network, and

iTunes is open on the computer. For more information, see “iTunes Wi-Fi Sync” on page 104.

With VPN, yu are not on the same network,

Sorry Dude, it ain't gonna happen, and here's why:

You're making your network connection over the internet or some other existing communication infrastructure (This is the design purpose of using a VPN connection).

This in affect isolates your device from communicating as an iPod because the network you are connecting to "sees" your device as workstation. Consequently, any workstation on the network that is running iTunes does not see your device as an iPod.

If you want to synch wirelessly, you MUST be in range of your home network's wireless router and you CANNOT use a VPN connection.
