Alesis iO Dock & Apogee Jam -iOs 5 Killed garage band on iPad 2 - iFail.

Agogee Jam and Alesis iO Dock not working

The problem Im getting with the Apogee Jam is looks like its all working fine with no ear phones plugged in.

As soon as I plug ear phones in it dies and switched to the Mic on the Ipad.

I need to do a reboot of Ipad 2 to get it working again but plug in ear phones same problem...... iFail.....

With Alesis im getting pop and cracks in recordings and when I change Amps it just goes nuts and I get a crazy fuzz sound thats very loude and distorted....

Gotta re start to make work again.

Iv got a booking today with the Apple shop to see if I can sort it out.

Im going to try and go back to iOS 4 on the Ipad (Get a new with it on it I hope)

Hi H@rry........

So I have a solution if you want to do it - I did.

Went to apple shop yesterday and showed them this vid of my ipad and what itwas doing:

I told them I purchased the Ipad for recording and for garage band only. Toldthem that I wanted a new Ipad with last version of iOS 4.

They swapped t out for one with iOS4 on it and all my hardware is workingawesome with it again.

Its a sacrifice I guess - All working well and wait till bugs are fixed orUpdate and wait.

Im back to iOS4 until I know 100% all my hardware will worth with iOS 5. Imean really on the Ipad there are not many advantages to iOS 5 is garage bandis not going to work in my view.

I think iOS5 on my iPhone is unreal. On the iPad naaaaaaaa.

If anyone can confirm for me when Agogee Jam and Alesis iO Dock are working100% perfect with iOS 5 please let me know.

Ahhh, thats bad news. This thread is a bummer. I was going to the store tomorrow to get a Alesis dock. Just got I pad a week and a half ago, sold some old music gear on EBay to raise money for dock and now I'm gonna end up burning that cash somewhere else. Think I'm gonna email Alesis to see what they say about ios5. Can't believe there aren't any another manufactures out making this style dock system. Alesis always has some cool stuff but quality seems to be flat-lined.

No there are still some problems with the audio recorder and the guitar amps input i have noticed that it's à random thing now it can work fine for moment and than when there is à change in setting it's over it is almost dangerous when you using headphones for monitoring in combination with IoDock because there is à distorted noise at max volume.

I,m also having the same problems with the Ampkit app.

Good call DeathByMedia. Below is the update notes direct from Alesis, looks like they are aware and have addressed the issue. Im ordering an I/O dock right now.

1.07 firmware from Alesis is at best the slight improvement. It means that distorted sound will not start immediately after you start Ampkit or Garage Band in iPad connected to IO Dock. But it WILL start eventually if you start eg changing amps. Alesis is not responsive to the issue - there is nothing on their website warning customer. They do not reply to emails. You cannot get thru on the phone to their tech support. They started to limit amount of info posted by angry customers on their forum. And all that time they are selling the inventory. My impression is that they have no fix. They just want to get rid of what they have before they will start selling IO Dock2. To add insult to injury Apple is now selling IO Dock and does not allow any negative reviews.
