Copyright of music included with iMovie?

Hello everyone,

I'm not familiar with copyright law. And I never read the disclaimers when installing new software. Who does? So this was a new situation for me.

I used iMovie '11 to edit some video and then uploaded it to Facebook and YouTube. This is video that I shot but I used some of the background music that comes bundled with the iMovie software.

Both FB and YT have flagged the video, saying that it contains copyrighted material. Am I not allowed to use this music for videos I post on the Internet? I'm very confused here. Why would they provide this music if you aren't allowed to include it as part of a video uploaded to a public forum?

Can anyone shed some light on this situation?

Thanks,

Bruce

This question comes up from time to time. YouTube and Facebook are both wrong. You are free to use the music and jingles imbedded with iMovie.
