While configuring Lion Server, I created and reset Open Directory several times as I experimented with different configurations. As you can see from the attached image, it appears that this action has created (null) users in the profile manager user list. These users do not show up in Open Directory when viewed via Workgroup Manager. Does anyone know how to get rid of them? Thanks in advance.

I solved the problem. The (null) users were lurking in the server Access configuration for profile manager. Access configuration for the profile manager service is available in the Server Admin utility under the Services tab.

Hi Dan

I am having the same problem and for the life of me I can't seem to find what you are referring to.

I open the Server app and go to Profil Manager, but the only settings I ahve are two edit buttons. One to sign configuration profiles and One for the default configuration profile. I also have links to the user portal and the profile manager web app.

I am sure its staring me in the face, but where do I actually delete the (null) users?

Thanks in advance.

I'm also having problems with (null) users in Profile Manager of Mountain Lion, but the link specified for the Admin Tools (V10.7) does not help me because V10.7 can't be installed onto Mountain Lion, the installer says it can only be installed onto Lion (V10.7) and I'm running Mountain Lion (V10.8)

I must be doing something stupid to not get this to work. What am I doing wrong here?

I just need to find those "Null" users in Profile manager and get rid of them. How can that be done on Mountain Lion?

Thanks,

Ralph

Hi Mike,

And my problems have gotten worse because I ran the WipeDB tool and I have destroyed the Open Directory several times in an attempt to remove the null users, but now when I rebuild everything and start from "scratch" the Profile Manager page crashes regularly.

I even went so far as to rename the host name on the machine to see if the new Open Directory that it created would emerge in a new structure, but no luck.

The "Null" users no longer say "null null", now their entries just say "loading..." and they never load, probably because there is nothing TO load, just old dead record pointers somewhere in the Profile Manager.

I've hunted through the file system in command line trying to figure out where any of this data might be stored, but I haven't found anything I feel comfortable deleting yet. I'm facing a reformat of the disks and a re-installatoin of the OS if I can't figure out how to fix this.

How can I clean this up? Anyone have any idea?

Thanks,

Ralph

Hi Mike, I think maybe what Raven intends is that we download V10.7 onto a Lion machine and then run it remotely against a Mountain Lion Server. That might work, but I can't test it because I don't have any Lion machines any more. They have all been upgraded to Mountain Lion.

Does anyone have a solution for this which will work on Mountain Lion without using a Lion machine to host the Tools?

Thanks.
