iCloud not syncing Contacts or Calendar to iPhone 4S.

On Saturday, I noticed my Contacts were blank on my 4S...the screen had the blue gray bar at the top with the "+" in the upper right and then where the contacts should be was white. My calendar looked correct; however, my appointments were gone. I verified my information on icloud.com and everything was backed up. I contacted Tech Support and after three hours with a level 2 senior rep, I was directed to get a new phone from the Apple store.

It turns out that it wasn't my phone afterall...it's actually iCloud not pushing my contacts or calendar to my 4S. The Genius bar, after over an hour, had to turn off iCloud on my 4S and my MacBook Air which is now causing me to sync with iTunes via a cable. Has anyone else seen this issue? Any fix?

No I didn't have MobileMe previously. My iPhone 4S is the first iPhone that I purchased. My issue was that all of my contacts were in iCloud along with my Calendar events. For some reason, my iCloud stopped syncing all together to my 4S.

My issue has also been escalated to the Apple Engineers almost 2 weeks ago with no resolution. What I had to do was to backup my Contacts & Calendar on my MacBook Air...I then created a new account on iCloud, connected the new account to my 4S and Air and now everything is working fine.

I can only assume that my iCloud account became corrupt and since Apple has yet to tell me the issue, I went ahead and created a new account.

Not sure if this will work for you or not, but it's worth a shot. Best of luck.

Alright. So...this worked for me too. Finally...and no hlep from the apple store OR apple care! Got a new phone from apple store...FAIL...no call back from Sr. Tech...FAIL.

So...I did the following:

On the phone first:

1) Switch to airplane mode

2) Reboot phone by holding top key and front button until apple logo appears (not red slider to turn off phone)

3) Settings - iCloud - Turn contacts OFF - Delete From Phone (make sure you get a check mark after completion)

Then on the Mac:

4) Open address book on mac

5) Command + A to select all contacts in address book...double tap trackpad and export as V card

6) Command + A to select all contacts in address book...goto Edit...drop down menu and choose delete cards

7) Verify all are deleted on iCloud because the address book is synced to my iCloud account

8) Drag and drop vcard backup back into all contacts in address book or choose import from File menu in address book

9) Verify all contacts were back on iCloud by visiting iCloud on my computer's browser

Back to the phone:

10) Turn Airplane mode off...make sure I connected to my WiFi network

11) Settings - iCloud - Turn contacts ON

Voila! Got 483 of my 488 contacts...good enough for me...only had 99 to 149 for the past month!!!!

OH - This also fixed my calendar issue...all my appointments are back!

Hope this helps somebody!

Hi Beau

Thankyou very much for your instructions to fixing a corrupt iCloud account.

I upgraded from a Black iPhone 4 to a White iPhone 4S yesterday, and havent been able to get iClouds contacts and calendars working since the upgrade. I thought it might have been a glitch in the 5.0.1 update. I was on the phone to AppleCare all day (who were very helpful), and they said they would probably replace it if I brought it into an Apple Retail Store, but the closest is over an hour away from me, so I just wanted to fix it as it is brand new.

Anyway your solution worked perfectly for me and im all up and running again.

The only issue I have now is that after updating yesterday to iOS 5.0.1 the battery runs out from 100% in about 6 ish hours, and im not even using the phone, it is just locked. Nothing is running in the background all apps are closed in multitasking, bluetooth is off etc. So there is obviosuly a glitch in the software, I just hope the next update fixes the problem some people like me are having.

Thanks again!

Beau,

great. I worked on this issue from time to time over 2 weeks now and tried so many things without any success. Your procedure solved my problem immediatley. Key points seem to me to power off the way you described and totally delete the contacts in iCloud and reimport them afterwards. Everything else I tried already without any success. SO thanks again. You get 100 points from me ;-)

Cheers,

Karsten
