Can the Model MB702LL be updated to iOS5?

I'm trying to update the OS on an older iPhone 3G, model number MB702LL. It's currently on 4.2.1 (8C148) but evrytime I plug into iTunes it says I have the lastest version. Any ideas?

iPhone 3G, iOS 3.0

The iPhone 3G can't run iOS 5.
