Deleted Song Keeps Reappearing!

Hi all

I downloaded a track onto my iPhone whilst out and about via iTunes. I now want to remove the song, but it's proving to be ridiculously tedious.

In iTunes I see the song in my music library, so I highlight it, CMD Del and remove the file. When I click on my iPhone in the menu, I go into music and I see the track in manually added songs at the bottom - I remove it from there. I go into Purchased on the left hand side - I delete it from there.

My songs are 'Sync only checked songs' and the song doesn't appear in any of the other lists, so it's not checked. At this point, there should be no trace of this track on my mac.

As soon as I sync it though to get the song off my phone library, iTunes puts it back in to the library and it wont leave my phone, I just cannot get rid of it!

Does anybody know where I am going wrong?!

Thanks

PS: I am running the latest version of iTunes, iPhone 4 on iOS 5.

I am having the same issue except my song was a self created mp3 recording (not from iTunes). These mp3s are 150Mb+, so I typically delete from my music library and backup on an external drive after listening.

In any case, there is no trace of this song in my iTunes library and it reappears immediately following a sync.

I've tried unsyncing all music, trying wireless/wired syncing, and it continues to reappear.

I failed to find this post before I posted the same thing, I think. I deleted a few songs off my Mac. They keep transferring from my iPhone while syncing. I tried unchecking the songs and syncing which kept them off my phone. Then deleted them off my Mac again and synced with the phone again. The songs still appeared, even though they weren't on the phone. I've tried every setting I can find. I haven't been seeing the "Do you want to transfer purchased items from iPhone" like I used to before I had this problem. Any help would be appreciated.

I do not really have a media folder. the song downloaded normally, is stored in my Music folder > iTunes > iTunes Music. if I hit delete in iTunes, it asks me if I wanted to put it in the trash (as with all tracks I deleted before). Which I do. And it disappears. All fine.

Synch with my iPhone, or just leave iTunes minding its own business and – bang – there it is again...

So far I have deleted the track about 16 times.

Annoying.

Any advice?

Thank you for the reply. But I never had a 'Media' folder.

The 'Media' Folder iTunes is referring to is the iTunes Music folder, as defined in the Preferences. iTunes manages that folder by itself when clicking 'keep iTunes Media folder organised'.

And the deletion of the file is not the problem. it deletes alright as Taffam, sigep440, mattfromymm, iBuchon and myself described.

checking in the finder - the folder of the selected song is empty. gone. Nothing in there.

BUT – once you synch again, the track is either redownloaded or transferred back from the iPhone as a new track. And that is the annoying part!

I tried doing the unchecking to remove (because only checked are synced) but this did not work for me. What did work was waiting for sync to finish and songs to be duplicated in my iTunes library again. Then I went to the songs in Music on iOS 5 and swiped to delete them, then deleted the same ones in iTunes. Upon next sync, voilà, no duplicates! 😀

I'm not sure if everyone is still having this issue, but mine jusr resolved itself. I hadn't had the songs in my itunes media folder since shortly after I upgraded to iOS5 and synched the songs. I tried every setting in iTunes, while synching and unsynching all media. I can onl guess that maybe this was an iCloud bug when backing up to the Cloud.

I know this doesn't provide any help, but for whatever reason my variation of this issue resolved itself.
