In looking over that article, it sounds like there may be multiple issues involved..USB Connectivity, anti virus software etc...a quick fix might be to take it to the Apple Genius Bar if you live close to one..they do a great job of customer support..also if you are within the 90 day warranty period you can call Apple direct, if not you can get paid support for this specific case.....just another thought maybe try downloading the software separate from doing the install, maybe try from a different PC or something as well....but easiest would be the Genius bar if you are close to one... sometimes they will overlook warranty issues in the interest of getting you up and running...
