Iphone 4s Takes Pictures Upside-Down???

My iphone 4s takes pictures upside down even if I hold the phone upright (home screen on the bottom). Is it just a glitch in the phone or can I do something to fix it??

Has anyone else had this issue??

iPhone 4, iOS 5

I'm pretty sure that is just one of trillions of glitches, as my own **** experience With faulty Apple equipment continues... if you try to get hep you'll be left very dissatisfied and frustrated and maybe 1-2 hours on hold at the help desk.

Ohhhh, maybe that's why they have these forums, so those that are denied support have a hope to get help here. I'm thinking you're never going to get anything but a headache. :( Apple doesn't care, why do they call it 'Apple Care?'

it only makes my point stronger because therefore even more people are unaware that they're taking photos and video upside down!

Millions of people are unaware that they're taking photos and videos updide down. Why are they not looking at their photos and videos and seeing this, and then posting here?

Im not sure why they are not i guess maybe they do not transfer pics, they do not email or they do not care..

Just to throw a spanner in the mix, check out this photo, my Mrs had a old Iphone 3 running 3.1.3 and this picture was taken in portrait mode, so it seems it is not exclusive to Iphone 4, 4s or IOS 5.

I can't believe that you would take a photo, then send it to someone else without even first glancing at it yourself?

That's because when you look at it after you've taken it, it looks fine. When someone RECEIVES it, it's upside down. And don't forget this is a mobile device so pics and video can be sent while out and about. That's the whole point of a mobile device.

So who does the fault lie with? You for sending it before realising you took it upside? The receiver for not buying an Apple computer? Or Apple for having it's camera upside down when in it's upright position?

Excellently put. Amidst the accusations that the iPhone "takes the pictures upside down" there is indeed the possibility of "why do recipients devices turn the picture upside down?"

I'm taking no sides, having no problems in this area. But I am delighted to see a hint that any form of communication is a two-way thing, and the problem might be on either side.

tone, the problem with your way of thinking here is that in this case the "other side" in the two way communication is everyone on a Windows platform which is what, 80% of the entire world ?? Sorry but I'm not sold. This is an Apple screw up. I just decided to stop complaining about it and I'm resigned to the fact that I have to hold my phone upside down and horizontal to take pics and videos that I intend to send to anyone who doesn't have an Apple phone or a Mac which again is the MAJORITY of people I communicate with. Maybe one day Apple will fix it and maybe they won't. Given they've done nothing at all yet after all of the responses to this thread it's clear to me it's not a priority to Apple. Guess they'll get to it in their own sweet time or not :-(

It is your assumption that "the other side" is Windows. I never stated or even implied that. As far as I can tell from the posts here, the problem is simply a lack of standardisation amongst all software, regardless of which side of the OSX/windows fence it sits, re how it handles these photos. As said, I don't really mind, as I have not seen a problem here. But I tend not to distribute photos - it's just not one of the things I do. :-)

The problem first -before any talk of standardisation - is that the internal camera is upside down when held as currently advertised. This needs to be sorted first.

The bottom line is that apple prides itself in saying "it just works". In this case it does NOT just work. The statement "it just works" does not leave room for excuses.

Sure I absolutely love my iPhone and will buy the next one that comes out and I have found easy workarounds for the photo issue (which I have posted on the forum before) but all this is just irritating.

Apple please make it just work so I don't have to find workarounds. This used to work before.
