Iphone 4s Takes Pictures Upside-Down???

My iphone 4s takes pictures upside down even if I hold the phone upright (home screen on the bottom). Is it just a glitch in the phone or can I do something to fix it??

Has anyone else had this issue??

iPhone 4, iOS 5

I'm pretty sure that is just one of trillions of glitches, as my own **** experience With faulty Apple equipment continues... if you try to get hep you'll be left very dissatisfied and frustrated and maybe 1-2 hours on hold at the help desk.

Ohhhh, maybe that's why they have these forums, so those that are denied support have a hope to get help here. I'm thinking you're never going to get anything but a headache. :( Apple doesn't care, why do they call it 'Apple Care?'

True. As reported in one of my earlier posts the upside down phote issue goes back to at least the iphone 4 version. My wife and son both have the iphone 4 and I tested each and when holding the phone verticle to take a pic or vid the result is a sideways image. Holding the phone horizontal with the home button to the left (simulating the use of the volume button as the shutter button like the 4S) the result is an upside down image.

I also have an Iphone 4s and having the same problem with rotating my pics. I found a solution but it is very time consuming.

right click on the pic

go to open with>Paint

rotate the pic in Paint and then Save it

the pic is now rotated in Windows Live Photo Gallery if your using a PC.

I really hope Apple sort this out asap, its riduculous how a high tech company can not recify something so simple and obvious.

I doubt this is going to be sorted any time soon.

I just replaced my ip4 under warranty and while being served by the 'genius' I was asked if I had any other queries/issues.

I said "yes, are you aware of the photo/vid upside down issue?"

Reply: No, tell me more.

I went on to explain the situation, my take on it and this thread. I asked the genius if he was an all Apple user or a mixture of pc and Apple like many on this thread. He said all Apple which I commented then you don't see this issue as it works across all Apple products and that he obviously didn't use his phone much to take pics and send to family who had pc's. I offered to show him by dragging a pic to safari, but he was very disinterested. He said nobody has ever complained about it to him so didn't think there was a problem. I said, well then I'm complaining can you put it in the system? He wouldn't as he said he'd need more complaints to do that. I again mentioned this thread. He didn't care.

I also sent a letter to Tim Cook back in Jan as advised in this thread, to which I got a phone call saying thanks for letting us know, we'll pass it on to the techs. But that was approx 6 months ago...

It's either:

a) not a problem according to Apple

b) really hard to fix so is taking ages

c) can't be done

d) the people who can fix it don't know about it

e) can/will be done but is low priority

f) insert other excuse/possible reason

My money's on d) or e).

If it wasn't for the fact that I walked in with a broken phone, which was replaced on the spot under warranty, then was able to restore my phone on the spot via the cloud and wifi and walk out with a working phone, I too would say I'm never buying another apple product like others have mentioned, BUT their customer service is just tooooo good...

This forum has gone on for months with few people reading the earlier pages.

Many of us have written to Tim Cook. We all would like Apple to solve the problem. However, nothing apparently is going to be done.

Rather than continuing to address the same problem ad nauseum, read the easy fix. Download SNAPBOT (free) to send pics right side up to PC users. It does not work for videos, but it works great for pics.

Before posting, please read the previous 20 pages. Nothing new has been said for months.

Yes I used to say that also, but when you have 20+ pages not everyone is going to bother going back and reading everything, so I don't bother saying that anymore.

But, every word of my post was new. I didn't repeat anything I said previously or that anyone else has said previously.

Mpmassey shows the futility of this forum. Very limited new information and either a poor attempt at humor or a complete lack of situational awareness.

Reading the first 20 pages of this forum should be a requirement before posting.

This forum has outlived its usefulness. Strongly recommend the moderator terminate it.

I highly recommend this thread NOT be terminated. As a matter of fact I hope it grows from 20 pages to 120 pages even if it's nothing but more and more people coming here and posting the same thing over and over again simply because they just found out what we've already known, the phone doesn't work as advertised.

Your suggestion to download and use "Snapbot" as a workaround is fine temporarily but I don't view that as a "Fix". I took your advice and did this some time ago and it works fine but as you said yourself it doesn't work for videos not to mention the limitations with only being able to process 4 photos at a time with "Snapbot". This thread should continue to grow and the letters should keep being sent to Apple until they get so tired of all the noise they finally decide to fix the problem. Just like anything else the squeaky wheel gets the grease. If you're not interested in reading anymore of the responses just ignore them.

Steelcurt

You make sense and good points. However, after talking to a nice lady in Tim Cook's office and several engineers at various levels, I can assure that no one at the higher levels cares about our problems. None of the executive level engineers were even aware of the issue. Stop by your local Genius Bar and see if they are even aware of this forum's subject.

You could logically respond that continuing the forum will increase awareness. I wish I shared your optimism.

If there were more posts like yours, the forum may have some value. Thanks

It has increased the awareness of someone at Apple 'cause they created that 'branched to new discussion' link above about 2 pages back, which when u (I) click it, it says not allowed. Anybody know what that link is about? Is it Apple staff discussing this in the background <uncrosses fingers>?

Getting back to your previous comment...

How can you say any of that to me (especially the use of snapbot) if YOU practice what you preach and have read all of MY posts?

Jun 2, 2012 1:44 AM in response to Naptownzballa

Was thinking of going in for iphone 4s after seeing that this video upside down feature coming on and off in my daughter's Galaxy. Now these reports of iphone 4s too having this problem is making me wary.

Assuming I go in for iphone 4s, will this problem persist even after the footage is imported into FCPX for editing?

Would like to know from existing iphone 4s owners specifically.
