iShock II or xbox w/ usb controller?

Hi,

I want to get a controller that will work with tiger... and the games Doom 3, Halo +hopefully Quake 4...

I've read unfavorable reviews of the iShock II.... recently I downloaded a driver from versiontracker that would let an xbox controller with a usb adapter work on a mac...

has anyone had any luck with either of these... any tips?
thks

iBook G4, iMac G5, Mac OS X (10.4.3)

I'm using an "xBox 360 controller for Windows" and the driver here. It's a great controller and the driver allows it to be recognized as a proper HID device. Unfortunately the driver is beta quality at the moment and is not perfect particularly the rumble feature. However, the developer is friendly and active so it should improve.....

The iShock is awful, the centre point is way off and it isn't a HID device, you have to use the poxy iShock Manager app to set it up.

Just tried it in Halo, works perfectly using one analogue for walk and one for aim - rumble not working as yet though.

D-pad is non-functional but there are enough buttons for all the in game commands if you use the ones under the analogue sticks too, certainly makes the Warthog easier to drive!

Haven't got Doom 3 to try so I can't tell you on that one but it should work just the same.
