Why does my scrabble game keep telling me that I have no internet connection?

Supposedly you can play scrabble against the computer without internet connection. However, I've only gotten this to work once. All the other times, scrabble keeps telling me that I have no connection when I open it, and then it won't allow me to close the error window on this until I am once again back to wifi. Does anyone know how to fix this?
