office for mac - Word

very small beer, but increasingly irritating. With respect to all our American friends can anyone tell me how to ENSURE that English US doesn't keep coming up at intervals as the language for Spellchecking? I have set English English as the default on documents and on Preferences and it always shows in the tables as the language of choice, but.....
