There may be good ports out there, but any that are distributed on PirateBay should raise a red flag, and ignored. Especially if they aren't officially sanctioned by the developer of the game. Most games like these are not open source. And if the original developer has not sanctioned its further development you are breaking the law regardless of whether or not you own the Windows version of it. It would be one thing if it was open sourced. But I kind of doubt anything found on PirateBay would be anything but a non-sanctioned port. Sorry, but you are playing Russian Roulette with your computer's safety as long as you rely on PirateBay software. The porting site in question should double check any ports are sanctioned by their original developers before posting them, otherwise they could get in trouble too.

1. Never download anything from Piratebay. You are inviting several kinds of trouble if you do.

2. Kaspersky Antivirus has been widely reported to cause problems, including system slowdowns and the inability to shut one's computer down or restart it normally. You should uninstall it completely.

3. When you have trouble running an application from a third-party developer, contact the developer's tech support for help, instead of seeking help here. These forums support Apple products only. If you are afraid to contact the developer because your copy of the software has been downloaded illegally, buy a legal copy or you're completely on your own.

We have no way of knowing whether you downloaded malware from Piratebay or some other untrustworthy source of illegally-copied software, but downloading stuff from such sites is among the most likely ways to get malware. On your Mac, install and run ClamXav, a free antivirus scanner that does not have the ill effects of Kaspersky and other commercial antivirus software. It should detect any Windows viruses that are on the Mac. Note that if it detects any viruses, they are Windows viruses — there are currently no viruses that can attack OS X. A handful of Mac Trojans exist, all disguised as applications that pretend to be beneficial, so you will willingly install and run them. We can't know whether you've done that, either. ClamXav may also detect those.

But the safest thing you could do now would be to erase everything from your Mac's hard drive, then reinstall the operating system and all your software from original installer discs and trustworthy web sites.

As others have noted, there is no publicly available Mac version of GTA IV. If you want to play GTA IV, buy it legally and play it on your Windows PC, or install Windows on your Mac via Boot Camp and play it on the Mac.

I am new here but your post brought me in, I know why you can't play GTA IV on your mac, your mac is the same as mine and I downloaded the same file as you. My friend got a 15 inch Mac Pro and he can play it on his mac but a bit laggy, tell you something but don't be sad: You will never play GTA IV on your mac because it requires intel Core 2.4 at least but our Macs are running on 2.3, and my friend have a 2.5 intel Core so the reason for us playing GTA IV impossible and my friend can is because of the intel Core, so you don't need to bother about the GTA IV anymore on your mac, instead you should either buy a 15 inch Mac or better yet a PC which is what GTA IV is for, cause' I ain't caring bout' the GTA IV anymore...

i'am using a (late 2011) macbook pro '13 and gta does not work, but my friend has a macbook white and it's working perfect. so, i think it has something to dow with the videocard or the graphics driver.

Your post regarding your mac with intel core 2.4 raises some questions. By intel core 2.4 do you mean that your intel prossesser has a speed of 2.4GHz? If so, I have a macbook pro early 2011 with a 2nd gen intel core i7 upgraded 2.7GHz prossesser. Would that be powerfull enough to run GTA IV on the mac? I am getting the same error messeges misalarm had.That aside, prosessers do not dictate what games/applications your computer can run. It is all about the graphics card. If your friend can run GTA on his macbookpro 15 then it is probably due to the fact that all macbook pros 15 inches or more come with discrete graphics cards such as the NVIDA GeForce GT 650M.

I've tested out and found the solution.

What it meant by the Fatal Error and the Video card driver, is that the games optimizes itself to be compatible on PCs and since the production of Apple's Macbook lineups are all geared up with Intel GPUs

Generally, in a sense of hardware, i installed the GTA IV on my MacBook Pro with Retina 13", and the message was displayed.

Then i headed back to my 2009 15" MPB to install the game, and it worked perfectly well.

So my conclusion to that is the game work perfectly well with NVIDIA video Cards but not Intel's

Here's what you do,

1. Get Windows XP or Vista and istal it using Boot Camp

2. When you have installed Windows on your Mac go to Safari and download Steam.

3. Once you've downloaded steam open it and search up Grand Theft Auto IV.

4. Click on the result Grand Theft Auto IV and buy it, $30.00AU.

5. Open the game and play.

Alright im going to explain this here, the GTA IV for Mac OS X will not work on Intel Based Graphics! It is because intel graphics is a integrated graphics that the graphics won't work well or crash in some sort of Mac OS X games. If you looking a solution for a other way to play GTA IV is too install Windows 7 to your mac using bootcamp and install GTA IV (full or crack) and play. Note: I know this cause I also have a Macbook Pro 13" Early 2011 and Macbook Pro 15" Late 2011 (I own 2 Macbook Pro).

My specs are:

Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory: 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB

Software: OS X 10.8.4 (Mountain Lion)

I know the solution......... You have Intel graphics like me. Intel *****, so the game can't reconize them. If you want to play, get Nvidia graphics... something other than intel. If u have something else and it has Fatal Error TEXP40, then download DirectX, extract it, than put the .cab files in system32 folder in the GTA IV.app. If u can't, u hav to get bootcamp or a PC... i got it from the piratebay but it just dont work....
