Movie ripping

Is there a way to rip movies to my macbook pro without installing a dvd ripper? I'm new to mac and don't know how to do much- so if you could explain in laymance terms please.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

If you mean movies that you purchased on DVD, then this is illegal.

They are encrypted to stop you from doing this and breaking this encryption is illegal.

From the terms of use of tis forum:

I don't think the original poster's question is out of line at all considering you can purchase DVD rippers right on the mac app store...
