iPhone 4S battery not charging completely

I plug in my iPhone 4S before going to bed and charge it over night (6 - 8 hours). When I wake up in the morning most of the time it has only charged to somewhere between 93% and 97%. If I unplug it and plug it back in the charge will complete to 100%.

This has happened with several different cables as well as an Apple iPhone dock.

Has anyone else had this issue, and what could it be?

I have the same problem. I just got the phone and the last two nights I have woke up to the phone only being at 95%. I unplugged it an plugged it back in this morning and went to get ready for work and before I left the house it was at 100%. I will call Apple on my way to work and see what they say. But I am glad that I am not the only one having that problem.

I called Apple Support last night and they instructed me to do a system restore. With iCloud backup it didn't take long to get back up and running with all settings, apps, folders, etc. in place. Last night I left it on the dock to charge and woke up this morning to a 100% battery. I'll keep you guys posted on whether it continues to work or not.

I am having the same issues. I think it's related to "YAHOO MAIL". Seems like Yahoo mail is not only not running right on my iPhone 4S but also on my Macbook pro. It crashes everytime while using Safari only. Not sure why? Has something to do with the Adobe Flash on the Macbook while using Safari. I removed the flash from my macbook pro and it didn't crash anymore. I did it just to check it out but then reinstalled the flash player. On my iphone 4S it was taking forever to load emails and send emails (which is draining the battery). So I removed my Yahoo account completely from my 4S and now it seems like the battery is doing fine.

Urghhh, I have this issue as well. A couple of times now I have charged overnight and before unplugging the phone it was at 100% then as soon as I unplugged it, the battery icon goes down to 97% this morning it went down to 99%. I then plugged it back in, and it then goes to 100%.

I was so happy to finally be able to upgrade from my 3gs that I had for 24 months, to the amazing 4s, but have felt totally let down by the unbelievably poor battery life. 200 hours standby time?? so far, I have had 2h 30mins usage, 13h 50min standby and its at 45%. if I was to use it for viewing video, or playing a game on it it would be dead within a couple hours. this is totally unacceptable for a product I paid £200 for and am contracted for 24 months for.... apple better find a solution, because I certainly wont be recommending these phones for now.

I just got back from Apple. The technician ran a diagnostic and found nothing wrong with the battery. He said that it might be a software glitch and could restore the phone for me. BUT he said - since I am within the 30 day period I could just exchange the phone for a new one if I prefer. So, I took advantage and went from 64GB to 32GB, since that's what I wanted in the first place and they were out of stock last week. It was a very effortless process.

However, the bottom line is that they are not really aware of this issue as yet. I will charge tonight and cross my fingers.
