I bought a tv show on iTunes through my iPad and got the same error!

I don't think it's my iPad because previously purchased tv shows play okay. I synced my iPad with iTunes on my computer, and the show plays okay in iTunes on my computer. I tried re-syncing it and rebooting my iPad, but am getting the same results.

I sent a message to Apple Support about this just now and am waiting for a reply hopefully by tomorrow.

I got a reply from Apple Support yesterday with the following instructions:

"please delete the episode from your iPad and then redownload it directly to the device. You can download past tv show, app, music, and book purchases without incurring additional charges as long as what you want to download is showing on your Purchased page. Some content may not be available for download again if its provider no longer offers it on the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBookstore.

To enable this feature, you must have the latest version of iTunes. It is available on the Apple website:

http://www.itunes.com/download

The latest version of iTunes will not affect your library or any items in your account.

To learn how to download past purchases, check out this article:

I tried it out this morning, and it worked.

I have found a solution for my problem, which was with ripped DVD I own. The moment I deleted them on my phone and synchronised again, I no longer had the URL error message.

Please note you have to do remove each film from the iPhone, and you need to sync twice. The 1st time to get it off the phone (since you've deleted it there, iTunes needs to know this). The 2nd time, select the films again in iTunes and launch a new synchronisation. A couple of minutes later, the films are ready to be watched.

The same process can certainly be used with paid or rented content as well.
