iPhone 4S unable to update/install apps?

It says 'Unable to connect to the App Store' a while after I try downloading/updating an app, but my Wi-fi works fine for everything else. Under the app, it'd say 'Waiting...' and the loading bar stays all black. Am I the only one experiencing this problem? Is there anything I could do to fix this?
