iPhone 2g restoring problem

I have an iphone 2g, and i tried to restore it to 3.1.3 again (which it was working with a few days ago). Ever since trying to restore all I get is a connect to itunes screen. I have tried to restore over 20 times (DFU mode is the only way i could). I am running vista and have tried restoring on another computer as well. When i plug my phone into itunes, it just gives me a white screen that says "iPhone" and on the left hand bar it says iphone and all i can do is eject it. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes, tried restoring from a file (i manually installed 3.1.3) but that did not work. I went to the apple store and the apple guy put in a valid sim card and text messages were popping up, just with the "connect to itunes" screen still there. Any ideas??

So did anyone figure out the solution? I am so sad my phone isnt working. Can anyone please help fix my problem. Its the same one of restoring then seeing the 'iPhone" logo on itunes and only action able to do is eject.

Any solutions yet??? I've tried the above stuff with no luck. Get the "iphone" screen in itunes on two different computers. Going to sell this and I'm afraid they wont be able to activate it.

I am also having this problem.. tried to restore a friends iPhone.. now i feel i have broken it, though i know it is not the case.. was there recently a release of iTunes or some other software upgrade?.. 10.5 is current i believe.. i didnt own an iPhone till 3gs.. so not sure if this is a common problem, though "googling" it seems this is the most relevant thread and is all recent, so i would assume it is some change in apple's software??????!
