I have a 1 week old mac book pro.
I am running the latest issue of FCP X.
Auto save does not work !
I just lost some work after shutting down and restarting the program.
Apple for gods sake dont release a program that doesnt perform the basics.
And give us back the ability to save projects when and where we want !

Yes. Please. Bring back the SAVE menu item.
I exported a movie 3 different ways and FCP was taking one of my transitions and duplicating it and placing it further down the timeline.
I changed it, but after exporting hte same error happened.
I quit and restarted. Then the change was 'seen' by FCP X and my problem went away.
Please bring back SAVE.

Which version of FCP X are your running?
10.0.1 seems to have addressed the auto save issue for most.
If you are on 10.0.1, have you tried trashing your preferences?
Also, I'd suggest duplicating your project every once in while.
You can tell if auto save is not working, when Undo no longer works. If that happens, duplicating your project might help. Not sure, as I haven't seen the issue since upgrading to 10.0.1.
