Bookmarks not syncing to Mac

Hi

My iCloud account has stopped syncing bookmarks on my Mac - but is still working perfectly on my iPad and iPhone. I have tried unchecking and checking the bookmarks checkbox in iCloud prefs, and I have signed out of iCloud and back in using iCloud prefs and this makes no difference. I have also tried turning off sync, removing my bookmarks, and turning sync back on. The initial download of the bookmarks from iCloud works fine, but subsequent changes don't sync. Any changes I make on my iPad or iPhone sync perfectly to each other though using the same account.

Having run out of ideas to try I installed the iCloud control panel in Windows and this also works fine!!

Has anybody got any ideas as to what I could try next?

Any help would be most appreciated 🙂

Thanks in advance,

Mike.

I was actually glad to see your post so i'm not the only one trying to figure this out...i've killed iCloud and reactivated it on both my mac and macbook, but still not syncing of bookmarks. It was syncing at the launch of iCloud, for i was glad to see the updates on the different machines, yet now i'm having the same issues you are...it will sync on the iPhone, but not any of the Mac's...

Let's hope Apple addresses it with their next update, which is already out to developers for beta testing etc.

Even Lion has significant issues where it crashes Safari constantly...I'm surprised Apple is rolling out software updates that seem to remain at the Beta Testing level even on release...

I miss OS X and dare i say it...MobileMe for that always synced just fine for me...

I managed to get it sort of working by turning bookmark sync off on all devices, then reinstalling Lion over the top of my existing system and patching it back up to 10.7.2. Turned sync back on and it seemed to work for a while then stopped again.

Safari 5.1.2 beta has just been seeded - nothing in the seed notes about bookmark syncing, but just updated this morning and my syncing between devices is now immediate, so fingers crossed they've sorted it.

I totally agree with your post though - I never had an issue with bookmark syncing in MobileMe ever.

I was having the same issue as well - iCloud Safari bookmarks were syncing on my iPhone and iPad but not on my Macbook Air or Macbook Pro. Here is what I did and it started working perfectly:

1. Turned off iCloud bookmark syncing on my Macbook Air

2. Quit Safari

3. Turned on iCould bookmark syncing back. It warned me that all my bookmarks will be 'merged' and I agreed since the two computers were almost identical anyway.

4. Opened Safari and all my bookmarks were synced! A few extra bookmarks on my iMac were added to Macbook Air and any new bookmarks I had added to Macbook Air showed up on my iMac.
