what is the best email client for ipad 2

That's meant to say "By client I presume he means provider, and not all email provides are supported by push. So it's not just a matter of opinion." sorry didn't mean to come accross as sarcastic, iPad is not the best for typing!

Google mail works really well for me, you can sync emails contacts and calendars plus gmail is compatible with push and emails are received instantly

Do you mean the best email provider or do you want to use something besides the Mail app that comes on the iPad? If you mean the best email provider 10 people will give you 11 opinions...very much a matter of personal preference.

The Mail app is pretty good and once you get familiar with all of its capabilities and foibles it does fine for mobile use.

Didn't take it as sarcasm, Jordan...I just wanted to be sure what the OP meant by client since many of us take client to mean the application itself rather than the provider.

But your point is rally what I was getting at...the "best" is the one that provides the most features that are important to you as the individual user.

OK, SO.......can anybody recommend a good substitute (to Mail) email client for the ipad2 ?

I'm looking to use my own hosted imap email accounts and also gmail webmail accounts too if the recommended clients suport these too.

Any ideas, suggestions or recommendations ?

I have just bought an iPad and was so disappointed with the half baked email client that came with it that I almost took the thing back to the Apple store. I searched for half a day without finding a client that did what you would expect any normal email client to do, but found nothing. Then someone pointed out ibisMail. I downloaded and installed and it worked first time. It supports POP3 and IMAP, and DOES allow folder creation on POP3 accounts. It looks just like the Apple email client otherwise.

I use my own POP3 / IMAP mail on my own domain, so just wanted simple mail to an internet server. I also use Outlook elsewhere, but did not need all those features on the iPad. I do not have an Exchange server so could not use an Outlook client on the iPad. I do not use Gmail or anything similar. I did not want to use IMAP because of issues with folder maintenance on the server.

Thanks for this. it appears as if ibisMail might work for me also. An Outlook client would be great also, but I'm not holding my breath. Apple has to know they did a really bad job on this one. My Droid phone is supported by many infinitely better email clients than my iPad.

You guys need to get the terminology straight if your going to offer advice. Gmail/exchange/pop//imap are services.

Google,yahoo, or 1and1 etc are service providers.

IbisMail, Outlook, or the Pos native iPad "Mail" are clients. Or mail clients.

If you keep confusing the terminology, your gonna start to sound like Apple users...

iCloud will of course be the best for apple product. iCloud is an Apple service.

If you respond to people who posted their question 15 months ago, and never came back, what are you going to start sounding like? And if you're on these forums, are you not an Apple user also? Haven't seen you post any advice yet...

I been seeing a lot more Apple whiners and complainers, in different forums, with 0 posts for a few months, now.

They only post to spread FUD and misinformation or to try and start arguments.

I ended up in this thread in search of a functional Exchange ready mail client capable of supporting multiple mail profiles. Since there are no free applications to accomplish this in the app stor, which I can find, I figured I'd leverage the 'community' for some direction before throwing good money after bad.

As I assume Im not the only one to do this, I figured I'd help straighten these folks out on the lingo (as they werne't applying it properly) and the sassy 'sound like apple users' comment references the way ANTI-apple folks assume you people are less than adequite users.

If I called an apple an orange, you would say I was wrong. If I did it repeatedly, after correction, you would assume Im incompetant.

Seriously, its a stupid machine and will only do what you tell it. (true for all computers, apple or otherwise)

So if I ask for a mail client, dont give me a provider. If I ask for a service, dont name a client.

In response to MichelPM, I didnt call your baby ugly. The 'Bandwagoning' is cute though. My advice is sound, and helping you folks not to look so... well... stupid.

Since you interceded though, how about a little help? What mail client do you use? Is it exchange Compatible, with active sync? Does it offer multi-profile support? And the clients want images in their signatures, and multi signature support. (I can do this with my android phone 😝)

That is basically my question also. I am looking for a client that will let me to use multiple providers, allow direct attachment of files (without using the cloud), and will let me create signatures and backgrounds.

Having exchange server access would be an added perk.
