Page numbering in layout mode

As with all the cases of grayed-out options in iWork apps that I can think of, it's a context issue. If you haven't selected a place for the Page Number that will accept the page number, the option will be grayed-out. Here are some ways to get the option to activate:

• Turn on a Header or Footer, and click into it to set the Insertion Cursor
• Insert a Text Box and click in it
• Insert a Shape that will accept text, and click into the Text area of the Shape

By default, headers & footers are not enabled in a page layout document. Use the document inspector to turn them on.

I don't think it's possible to only number one side and not account for the pages on the other side.

What are you doing that you would only number every other page?

I don't know any software that will do that.

You may just have to manually number the pages.

Oh yes, it can be done in Pages. Check Left and right pages are different. I haven't tried to see if I can choose even or odd number to show. Right now odd page numbers shows.

The point is that it has to number each 2nd page consecuitively not just skip all the odds or evens.

Peter, If you skip all odds or all evens it will be on every second page.

No all you do is get a sequence of 1, 3, 5, 7, 9

Instead of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Sorry, I missed the sequential " word". I will have a look into a work around. No promises I find one though.
