IPhone 4s bluetooth not working

I think I am not the only one. Blue tooth not working on iPhone 4s. Have tried reset network settings, no joy. Never had bluetooth problems before. Have tried connecting to iMac, Ipad, other brands of phones, nothing works.

For what purpose are you trying to pair with a computer, iPad or another phone? The iPhone does NOT support bluetooth file transfer. It never has. It supports handsfree devices, keyboards and A2DP audio streaming. Some apps can connect for peer to peer gaming, etc. Bluetooth can be used for tethering. That's pretty much it.

I have been using my original iPhone with my Sennheiser MM400 for a long time...no problem (well, actually, from time to time the Sennheiser would lose connection but I always figured it was my fault for getting too far away from the phone or something).

This week I got my new iPhone 4s.

The first interesting thing I noticed is that it had some difficulty connecting to my Ford Sync bluetooth. I finally made that work.

However, it will not recognize the MM400 at all. I have tried several of the ideas in this thread with no luck. I am running the latest ios.

I was able to pair the iPhone to my Motorola H780 (with siri off...have not tried with siri on).

I suspect that Sennheiser's bluetooth may be partly to blame, but there may be some shared blame with Apple as well.

Hello Deborah, If disabling Siri does not work, try switching off location services aswell, and then sync. (then switch Siri and location services back on.) The 4s is a great phone. There is usually a way around problams. I did not had any issues syncing the phone with the blue tooth in the car with both Siri and Location services switched off.

Hi all,

I have an iphone 3GS and a new 4S. The 3GS was previously Bluetooth enabled for my Mac mini to use 'Remote' around the house, and also in the car. Since i added the iOS 5 and also the 4S to our lives, nothing works for bluetooth connectivity. The phones simply cannot connect to any device.

The addresses appear (Chevrolet.... Mac mini...) but the wheel will continue to spin - and not connect. This is extremely frustrating..

Apple, I'm an excellent customer, but this lack of connectivity - I blame solely on upgrading to your new iOS - is terrible. I will not support this company further - and should I mention the battery life issues on the 3GS ??

GroovyCruiser, I join you in thanking Nick. After years with other phones(never had an apple) I took the dip on the 4s. I had it for four days now, after setting everything up I went to pair it with my helmet, Nolan with N-Com system; Nothing, I started trying to pair it with my laptop and garmin nuvi, nothing, even with my brother in law`s iphone 4. It just kept searching without finding anything. I was going to turn it in tomorrow when i found this thread. Disabling siri and locations, and I got connected first time both with my helmet and garmin. cheers🙂

Yes we hear you when you say iphone never has supported bluetooth file transfer. It is totally unacceptable that the iphone still does not support bluetooth file transfer. This is hardly new technology, having a new device that is supposedly at the leading edge of technology and not supporting this is poor.

For me my use of the phone involves bluetooth file transfer, so the iphone is not much use for me. Luckily I had a colleague that has iphone so I found out before purchasing a phone, about the inadequacy in regard to bluetooth file transfer.
