How to change backup location for iDevices in iTunes?

I have limited hard drive to backup my iPad on win7 in iTunes default path in %userprofile%\Apple Computers\Roaming\Backup which is located on my c: drive.

I would like to know if there is any way to change where iTunes store my devices backups and the apps I have downloaded.

I also searched the windows registry database via regedit.exe for this path in hope to find a changeable variable to do the job, but as you might guess it was out of hope!

I'm like desperate to get a new backup of my iPad, however I think it might be a question for other people too!!

iPad 2, Windows 7

are you looking to move the bloated Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup file? i had this same problem (my iTunes points to an external drive, but the default Backup Profile is still stored locally, and with a 64GB iPhone, it's killing my hard drive. here's what i found!

there are several posts about this, none are apple sanctioned it appears, all work arounds. read these:

basically you will "Create a symbolic directory link using the mklink command". no software to install, just a little dos editing.

best of luck!
