    As long as the report ends up with 'Permissions repair complete' then, as far as permissions go, you are fine. You can ignore the various statements in the report:

    Permissions you can ignore on 10.5 and 10.6:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448

    Using 'should be -rw-r--r-- , they are lrw-r--r--' as an example, you will see the that the permissions are not changed, but the | indicates a different location. This is because an update to Leopard changed the location of a number of system components.

    Poster rccharles has provided this description of what it all means:

    drwxrwxrwx

    d = directory

    r = read

    w = write

    x = executeable program

    drwxrwxrwx

    |  |  |

    |  |   all other users not in first two types

    |  |

    |  group

    owner

    a little more info

    Before the user had read & write. A member of the group had read.

    After, only the user had read & write.

    (What has this to do with Front Row?!)

    are you asking me 'what this to do with Front Row?'

  • Klaus1 Level 8 Level 8

    I was, yes!

    This forum covers the application Front Row. Your question would normally reside in the Leopard Forum, as that is what you are running.

  • James Creek Level 2 Level 2

    Klaus, I don't need you to tell me where I can post my question. be it leopard, mac (intel). answer questions if you know the answer - don't tell people where to post! If you want, I can tell you where to go...

    Ignore Klaus1's question about Front Row and see the rest of the post for the answer. James presumably posted here because most of the entries have to do with Front Row.

    IMO, Klaus shouldn't have asked that. My opinion is that regular forum members shouldn't question where a message has been posted or try to redirect the poster to another part of the Discussions unless they ask.

    The thing is everyone, How Do you Fix it???

    Im having the same problem - and no, permission repair doesnt fix it. I can do a scan, fix it, then do another scan straight away and the same permissions problems come up.

    Anyone have any answers?

    Thanks.

    I think Klaus1 answered it quite well in the first sentence of his first post.

    I agree that it's a pita to see those same messages all the time, but at least you all now know it's nothing to worry about.
