Can't update iPhoto, can't accept existing bundled apps
MBP 17" purchased last month. Shipped with Lion, updated to 10.7.2.
The App Store indicates that I have an available update for iPhoto (currently version 9.1.5). When I click the Updates tab in the App Store, and click "Update" for iPhoto, I receive the following message:
"We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later (null). This has persisted for several weeks, on my home, work, and travel internet connections.
When I click over to the "Purchased" tab, the App Store reports:
"You have 3 apps to accept. To receive future updates, the bundled applications iPhoto, GarageBand, and iMovie will be assigned to your Apple ID. A unique hardware identifier from your computer must be sent to Apple to verify eligibility."
Next to this message is a gray "Accept" button. When I click this, nothing happens. There is a brief flicker (circular loading icon) in the top gray nav bar, and nothing further happens. The "accept" button remains as-is, and the apps appear to remain 'unaccepted', and this unable to accept updates.
The three apps mentioned above came preinstalled on my machine, and with the exception of iPhoto not able to update, all work fine.
I have only one Apple ID, which was entered correctly when I initiated the new machine, and have been able to make other App Store purchases with my Apple ID.
I've read of some similar issues in this forum, but none with the exact characteristics listed here.
My attempt to correct via suggestions found on Apple help forums:
- manually update iPhoto to latest version. The download and install were successful, but when attempting to launch iPhoto 9.2, it would immediately crash. Ultimately, I ran a Time Machine restore to regain iPhoto 9.1.5 functionality.
I suspect the issue encountered via the Purchases tab is directly related to the issue encountered via the Updates tab, but I'm stumped. I could understand if the iLife apps were downloaded or purchases after I bought the machine, but they were bundled, and should have been assigned to my Apple ID the day I turned the power on.
Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
