I'm not sure if I should keep my computer logged into icloud. Everything is up and runniing great.

Let's clarify that: you do not need to stay logged into the iCloud website. You do need to stay logged into iCloud in the System Preferences panes: if you remove the iCloud details from there syncing will stopped and all synced data will be removed from your Mac (though not from the iCloud server).
Is the OP talking about signing in to the website, and you're talking about setting up iCloud accounts on the various participating devices? If she's talking about viewing iCloud on the website, logging off the website view should not effect device syncing. In fact, that would be necessary if viewing one's iCloud account from a public computer, for instance.
If you sign out, it will stop syncing.Why would you want that ?
You do not need to stay logged into iCloud. Your media will sync via your Wi-Fi network regardless.
