Updating podcasts via applescript

Updating podcasts via applescript

I have used a very basic applescript to update my podcasts each morning automatically - but it seems to no longer work.

It is:

tell application "iTunes"

activate

updateAllPodcasts

end tell

Can anyone comment here? I've tried to make this more "sophisticated" by trying to get iTunes to go to the Podcasts section and then select all podcasts and then update podcast - but I don't know how to write that and using "run" in script hasn't worked at all…

If anyone can comment here - it is really strange that the script which worked for a year or more to update the podcasts now doesn't function!

I solved this - you have to make certain that all the podcasts have the SUBSCRIBE button checked (i.e. that the word SUBSCRIBE is not showing). Once subscribed, the script will work fine.

Stephen - I used what you wrote here and combined it with the idea of using Automator to create a Calendar invite and made a tutorial on it. I gave you credit in the tutorial here:
