Oct 30, 2011 12:26 PM in response to ecbtxby Ratty98,I am having the same issue on an iPhone 4 16GB. Checked all the permissions, no issue there. Also tried using photostream on PC (win7) but also didn't work.
Error I'm getting is "You cannot rotate this image. The file might be in use or open in another program, or the file or folder might be read-only". The files are not read only and neither is the folder and checking task manager doesn't give any clues.
thanks

Oct 31, 2011 2:01 AM in response to ecbtxby Min-,I got the exact issue too. My error was "Windows Photo Viewer can't save the changes to this picture because there's a problem with the picture's file properties".
Hope a solution will be provided for us soon!

Nov 4, 2011 10:41 AM in response to ecbtxby sigma1038,Obviously not optimal but I tweeted the photo I needed then saved it from there. It wasn't upside down or sideways and can be edited on Windows.

Nov 4, 2011 12:34 PM in response to ecbtxby Computer Ninja,I am having the same problem, and, today, I found that it happens to MOST of the images, but not ALL of them.

Nov 6, 2011 1:50 AM in response to ecbtxby Kimone,Same issue. Looking for a fix but haven't found much other then others with the same issue.
Images in Photo Stream on Windows 7 seem to be rotated at random. Some are even upside down! :-S
Some I have been able to rotate in Windows Photo Viewer with no problems.
Some come up with an error "Windows Photo Viewer can't save the changes to this picture becuase there's a problem with the picture's file properties.
I can open them in another application, like Coral Paint Shop Pro, rotate and even save as the same file name no worries. Just doesn't seem to work in Windows Photo Viewer, but only some images at random. Real pain in the arse.
I sware they do this on purpose just to annoy Windows users.

Nov 6, 2011 10:10 AM in response to Kimoneby questian1,This seems to be prevalent with other Windows users. Hoping that a bug/software fix is in the work from Apple or Microsoft.

Nov 6, 2011 7:58 PM in response to ecbtxby Brokenphone234,I am having the same problem. The easiest way to fix it is to use the Microsoft Office Photo Viewer. You can rotate the pictures but then you need to save them. Thanks Bill for coming to the rescue of Apple!

Nov 7, 2011 7:32 PM in response to ecbtxby abdullahfrommississauga, yeah Exactly the same problem
I tired everything possible to change Permisstions, but it's just not working
it's just a bug with the new update, so we gotta wait until the relase the new one
to fix this issue ... you gotta work on it in diff program and not use Windows Photo Viewer because it won't work with you

Nov 15, 2011 12:15 AM in response to ecbtxby axlahn,Basically...to avoid this problem for now...don't use the volume up button as a shutter release. Here's what's going on:

I hope Apple gets on this...it's a pretty simple fix for them.

Nov 28, 2011 4:58 PM in response to ecbtxby mroy1,I am able to correct the orientation issue by shooting pictures with the phone upside down and using the soft shutter button. However I was still getting the photo file properties error when trying to edit photo's in Windows. After some testing I discovered that the HDR function is causing this issue. If I turn off HDR then I'm able to edit the photo's . However if I have it turned on, then I get the file properties error when trying to edit.

Nov 28, 2011 5:57 PM in response to mroy1by Dioleary,I wish that worked for me. I thought that might be my problem as well. However; I actually had the HDR feature off already. So, I tried turning it on. For me, it doesn't seem to matter one way or the other. I have tried taking photos with/without flash. Landscape and regular and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to the pictures it randomly selects to not edit.

Nov 30, 2011 11:55 AM in response to ecbtxby JWiles68,The easiest thing I found to do is to right click on the photo and choose 'Open With'.... I tried both Paint and Microsoft Office 2010 (if you have that installed on your machine. Once the photo is opened in that program, you can rotate the photo and save it. Go back to Windows Photo Viewer and it will open and show the rotation changes that you've made.

Dec 3, 2011 7:41 AM in response to JWiles68by Cardey,Agree with JWiles... I have been having the same problem whether the pic was taken with/without HDR and/or snapped with the vol+ or soft button. Tried several different Windows photo edit programs with no luck at all but "Open with..." "Microsoft Office 2010" works with no issue. Come on Apple and MS, can't we all just get along?
