Just to be clear, "iTV" is a  television network from the UK. Are you watching their shows online when you're having trouble? Or are you having trouble with an "Apple TV"? Or are you having trouble with El Gato's "EyeTV" device? If you're using an AppleTV with an Apple remote and the remote is interrupting the iMac, then you'll have to "pair" two Apple remotes, one with each device. Or you can turn off the IR receiver on the iMac (using the Security System Preferences).

If you plan on upgrading your iMac to Lion then that will also solve the problem since Front Row isn't supported anymore with Lion.

The way to disable frontrow from starting up is, turn off the IR remote in system preferences / security.
