Ok. This is my clever solution for the weekend.

As you have figured out, if you try to play all songs from an artist, it stops after each album. Bummer.

So create a new playlist. Search on the artist name, and select all. Poof you now have an instant play list that you can play. The side advangae is you can then remove some of the songs you really dont want to hear, like the christmas album....

JinKL - That works to get all the songs by an artist listed, but you still can't play all the songs. On my iPhone 3GS, when I choose an artist, I get the option to play All Songs. I used to have that on my iPad2, but now I don't. Any ideas how to make this work without creating a playlist?

Seems to me that by choosing an artist, you should be able to play all the songs without creating a playlist. That, to me, would be redundant. I don't understand why Apply would remove this feature.

Make sure you do the artist search from the "Songs" section not the "Artist" section on your ipad2

the result is just the same as the "Play All" feature on the iPhone.

I agree with you that you should have the option directly in the Artist section but its not there and this option gives the exact same result

Actually, JinKL, doing a search from "Songs" is harder to do and does not give the exact same result. It's harder to do because I have to key an artist's name rather than pick one from a list. The results aren't the same for several reasons. If you key an artist name that matches a song, you get that song, too. OK, that doesn't happen THAT much, but it does happen. And if I key a partial name, say "Morrison" for "Van Morrison", I get all the songs on "Morrison Hotel" by the Doors.

"All Songs" should be added to the iPad music player. While they're at it, they should add column titles and allow allow sorting on the column values.
