Q: Found Fix for iPhone 4 and 4S battery life problem

I found a flaw in the iOS 5

there is a option that constantly uses your location service without you knowing, it dosen't even show the purple arrow next to the battery unless you change that option to see.

go to settings> location services> go to the bottom and go to system services> turn all off except leave cell network search, compass calibration and traffic on, and turn the status bar icon on, so you know when your location is being used

the location based iAds,and setting Time Zone are constantly using the GPS.

I noticed a HUGE battery life difference that is much better

wasnt sure if anyone knew this.

I am glad it worked for you.

I did put my phone in airplane mode, and it drained overnight. I even tried reseting the phone to the factory default, the battery still drained out. I am losing hope....

The you might be one of the few with an actual defective iPhone. I would make and appointment with a apple Genius have then test it.  If you do go keep us informed of the results.

I took my iPhone to the Apple Store. They ran diagnostics and showed me that the battery is normal. I showed them screen pictures (with time stamps) of the rate at which the battery drained (10% every hour). They thought about it, called the manager, and finally asked me to stop using bluetooth (which I have not been using), and to come back in 2 weeks.

They also advised that I should use the phone LESS ! They want me to limit my talk time on the phone to 5 hours or less per day. When I explained to them that this is a phone. I should be able to get through a 8 hour day without having to recharge, they insisted that I am spending too much time talking on the phone ! ( My average is about 2 hours a day).

I did not expect this from Apple. DISAPPOINTED but more importantly the "shine" on Apple seems to be wearing off.

I found a tricks ! It worked very well for me, it boost my IOS iphone battery for 90% battery of 1 Hour 30 min of use ans 3 hours of standBy.

    Reset your Iphone 4s completely.

    - Reset all settings includins note contact calendar etc.....

    - Plug your "New" Iphone to Itunes

    - Sync and choose only Apps who worked with the Iphone.

    - After that, go to your Iphone and set up your contact and calendar from "Icloud" and once it done.

-Shut off "Icloud" and Keep your contact and calendar....reminder.... on your Iphone.

Since i did that, everything works great for me !

Tell me if it works for you MacPeople !!

    Hi daniel,

One more which i think will help to improve the battery life would the provision on an option to switch from 3G to 2G, like in the previous models. I think it helps a lot when you are running out of battery and need a device atleast to communicate. I prefer using 2G services for the simple reason for mobility rather than 3G and wnever I am not interested in consuming the cellular data packages.

I think it will be of great help in saving the battery life and also will reduce the consumption when the system is automatically switching between the two network services.
