Iphone 3GS as Bluetooth receiver.

I work on the mines and want to listen to the TV with headphones on as not to disturb next room.

I have got a Bluetooth transmitter than I can plug into the TV Earphone Jack and I would like to pair my Iphone with this and use it as a receiver into which I would plug in my earphones.

I know simple solution is to buy a bluetooth compatable headphones, but a have a nice set already and wish to use these rather than carry around 2 sets.

Is this possible and is there an app for it?

Not really sure what you're asking. If you have a BT transmitter that plugs into a TV headset jack - that would plug into the phone's headset jack to receive the music and SEND a BlueTooth signal to a BlueTooth headset. You still need a BT RECEIVER in your headset. There is no App that can get around that.

There's no way for the iPhone to act as a BT receiver since it is the source of the music/audio. Since the iPhone already has a BT transmitter, there's no advantage to using an outboard one that has to be plugged in. That would only be useful for devices that don't have BT transmitters such as older iPods.

Not exactly what I am asking,

basically TV will have a seperate BT Transmitter plugged into the headphone jack on the TV.

I want to be able to plug my Headphones into the Iphone to listen to the TV, in this case the Iphone will have to act as a BT receiver to be able to get the signal from the BT Transmitter.

Now I know you can use BT on the Iphone to transmitt to a stereo etc but can it go the over way?

Hope this clears it up

okay I will try and simplify it.....

One end of the room you have a TV and at the other you have me on the bed with headphones. I want to be able to watch TV with my headphones on as not to disturb the rooms either side.....

okay, I am trying to work out how to acheive this using blue tooth tech. The TV sound will be transmitted via the headphone jack on the TV to a BT transmitter (ie SONY HWSBTA2W Stereo Bluetooth Transmitter) then on the receiving end I want to pair my Iphone to this device as a BT receiver to which I will plug my Headphones into the earphone jack on the Iphone and listen as if I was listening to my music.

okay to recap, TV (A) sound at one end of the room sent via an independant Bluetooth Transmitter (b) ......... to me at the other end of the room received by my Iphone (c) as a (Bluettoth receiver) and played via the headphone jack into my headphones (d)

A-B .............C-D

not sures without drawing a diagram I could explain it any clearerm I understand a lot of the time the Iphone will act as a transmitter to send music to a source be it car stereo but effectively this is the other way around
