iPhone 3GS
This is what I meant all the time.
iPhone -> iPhone all under the umbrella iMessage i.e. iMessage or SMS for whatever reason.
I care since I might end up a huge bill.
iPhone -> iPod Touch/ iPad 3G only Wi-Fi (iMessage or no message which means no SMS)
Am I clear now. Can I go.
I have been watching this thread with both amusement and utter disbelief at the lack of comprehension by @ckuan. It is evident to any normal person reading this that the very clear and comprehensive responses given by @Allan Sampson, @debell and yourself are indeed very very accurate. I fear you are all on a losing wicket with this one and no matter how many times you try to explain it, they are never going to 'get it'. @ckuan will seemingly attempt anything to disprove the information already out there, not to mention the technical and factual information on the apple web site to cover their obvious lack of understanding. May I suggest that we, as they ask in their last response, let them 'go'......please
Hello,
Can someone help me with imessages please. I live in Australia. My daughter is holidaying overseas.
I have an iphone 3gs with iOS 5. She has a new ipod.
I have uploaded imessages. How do I send her a message using i message? I tried to send one, but it was green & didn't say "imessage" so I guess I will be charged by Vodafone? I don't have WiFi.
I have turned off SMS & MMS and only have iMessage turned on.
Should the message be blue & say "imessage"? or is it ok that its green?
Step by step instructions would be useful.
Frustrated Mum
did u turn on your 3g (internet your provider) on your phone if yes then u go to setting then network setting then turn on your 3g then u can send the imassege bcz imassege goes through via internet on the apple id
if your daugther had internet connect like wireless then she can recive other wise not
Hi,
I assume you mean is 3G enabled? yes it is.
When I call up a number for someone who has an iphone the imessage symbol coms up & the message is blue. My daughter is at Dubai airport which has wifi, she has sent me a message from her ipod, but when I try to reply, the message is green & doesn't say imessage.
do I just enter her international sim number +44....etc, or do I enter it some other way?
thanks
Priscilla
Both of you need to have DATA service ON or available at the time you send the iMessage. It depends on your phone and your daughter's phone carrier as the reception varies from time to time and locations. Yes, you better add prefix +44....... to your daughter's phone number. You can either send to phone number or email address associated with the device.
Are you trying to be smart? The post is not address to you. If you have a different understanding so be it. Just move on. OP has the right to hear different view.
Why don't you let OP decide. Smart ***.
ckuan: You are incorrect in saying that WiFi must be available. This is not accurate for the iPhone (but it is for the iPod touch). The iPhone can send an iMessage via 3G and WiFi.
Yes, it can send through iMessage. But without Wi-Fi it's just SMS and not iMessage par se.
No, I'm afraid you haven't got it.
It is not treated as an SMS. It is an iMessage if successfully sent and delivered as such no matter how it is routed.
My internet access at home is not from a Cellular network (Telco). Anyway, I give you that for iPhone since it does its magic to make the connection. What about iPod Touch and iPad sans 3G?
