Email issues with iCloud

Can anyone please help?

I am a MobileMe user sine the beginning of MobileMe and never had problems. Transitioned to iCloud and now I cannot receive email. I have tried recreating my iCloud account on my computer 3 times, I have changed my AppleID password twice, I have deselected and reselected SSL and chaged ports, but nothing works. My IPad2 also will not receive email since the transition. I can send email and I can check email on using Firefox at www.icloud.com. Any help would be great as this is very frustrating and I am tired of wasting my time trying to get back a functionality that was lost. The following message is what I receive in Mail:

The server returned the error: Mail was unable to connect to server “p99-imap.mail.me.com” using SSL on port 143. Verify that this server supports SSL and that your account settings are correct.

Cheers

If you set up iCloud via System Preference > iCloud then these settings should be there automatically.

You can check by going to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Incoming Mail Server / Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) Edit Server List

Before you do Next Step Back Up your Files

If settings are gray-out and you can not change them, then i had to find and move to External Hard Drive / delete - Mail folder and com.apple.mail.plist (Library > Mail) (Library > Preferences > com.apple.mail.plist)

Restart your Mac

Now Set Up your Mail via Mail App not iCloud - You should get Step-By-Step fields to enter new server names and passwords.

hope that works for you.
