Yes, I can. But there are some areas without 3G in some countries like Russia. So you can use only EDGE and you dont need 3G. In iphone 4 there was setting option  - turn off/on 3G. And with "3G" option off battery's life is much longer.

What can you say about this situation?

The fix, iOS 5.0.1 is developed clear of the idea board, and is released to us, developers. It fixes lots of bugs in iCloud, with the file loss problem, the battery and much more. It is coming soon. So all of you iLovers, stay calm and dont loose your loyalty to Apple. A fix is coming soon.

Can't wait! This is great You mention iCloud bugs... I have a minor bug on my phone. In the App Store, under "Purchased," my "All" list and "Not on this iPhone" list are exactly identical, which they shouldn't be. Any idea if this is going to be fixed in the update? And do you have any idea when the update will be released? This month? Next month? Thank you for the updates.

  • danieldev Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

    Be careful with the update!

Aparently there is a deeper error in iOS.

We are looking at this issue in writing time. Hang in there.

The battery problems get even worse for some, and some users who originally did'nt have the battery issue has obtained it via the 5.0.1 update.

    Currently looking at the problem.

Oh no! I hope it gets fixed ASAP. I had problems before the update, and I can't notice a difference in battery life with iOS 5.0.1.

  • rinkelk Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

Hope we get a solution soon, I didn't have the issue, but obtained it via 5.0.1, now my batterylife is almost half it used to be...

Have the 64 gig models and have had no issues, icloud in use etc.. Usually we got 2-3 days in 5 and 5.0.1 seems better, but since I had no problems I did not time it originally. When checking the logs on the devices (4s) used for development some apps did crash which is common but nothing major. You may if you have currupt contacts of calendars goto your clean contacts records. We had one sales person who had a host of apps getting every notification under the sun so we put some managment in place on that one. (Still their battery was fine.)

Some Tips and Trouble shooting advice

    1. Review all your apps and the notifications settings. Check for improvement.

    2. Quit running apps by tapping the Home Button in an application. When the APP pop onto up press on them until you see the minus button. Try exiting them one at a time to narrow it down to one particular APP.

    3. If you are a developer check your logs, this is the best what to see what is going on.

    4. Review your network and push settings.

    5. Review who you are getting calendar and messaging from. Google, exchange, etc.

    All else fails

Backup and encrypt your iPhone and than reset it to Factory settings. Apply the iOS 5.0.1 update and restore the backup.

As I have stated we have had no problem, our devices go about 2 days using heavy network traffic. You should if you are posting here any issues include the following so we get a sense of the what we are really dealing with and it will help.

Device : (Include Ram and APP list if you can) (App list is important.)

    Using iCloud:Yes/No

How you are charging: (Direct Plug or using a computer)

Computer including running OS. (Example Mac Book Pro 2009.)

    Calendar:(Google/Exchange/iCloud)

    Mail:(Again as above.)

Other Network apps: Twitter, Facebook, etc.

    Network Carrier:AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, etc.

WIFI usesage: (Percentage for example 20% of the day) and type of network device. Airport 2010 2&5 gig auto switch, older newer, etc. B/G/N

Is the phone or device ever been jailbroken or altered in any way from the original agreement: Yes or No.

Did you have APPLE migrate you data in the APPLE store? Yes or NO

Again, we have lots of the 4s and they are great, the battery is about 2 days. It may be better to get some accurate information to help.

    Good Luck all.

    Some more observations:

I have 4s, 64gb bought unlocked from apple store, connected to telstra prepaid 3g.  I wasn't having too many battery problems but may have got a bit worse with iOS upgrade.  I was turning 3g mobile data, location services and notifications off when not required, which helped conserve battery, but seems like an unfortunate thing to have to do with such an expensive and otherwise excellent phone.

Today (since upgrading iOS) turned on 3g mobile data and location services and used geocaching app (using gps) and the battery dropped from 99% to 80% in under an hour, not with continual use, turning the screen on and off.  The rate of battery discharge then seemed to slow down a bit.  It seemed that after first turning on the mobile data and location services there was an intense period of battery loss, which then slowed.

I also have enabled icloud, also on my ipad.  iMac is running OS X 10.6.8, which doesn't support iCloud and I wonder whether that creates any issues.  Thinking about upgrading to OS Lion to see if that helps at all.

Does ta=hat provide any clues to anyone more learned?

The OS is not going to be the problem in this case, make sure that you try all the resets here. You also may want to use iPhone Configuration Utility to check the logs and see if an app is running rouge.

Make sure that the battery drains fully under 10% and than recharge it. for 24 hours like you must when you first get the phone.

    Thanks and good luck

Tried all of the above, also from the-other-topic, nothing helped.

Had no problems on 5.0 but obtained it via the update.

Hard reset my phone, added it as a new iphone in itunes (did not read back a backup), drained my phone, charged it to full again, did a normal reset, closed all the apps

It still runs out of power with 1 hour use, 8 hours standby and it dies.

I used to be able to do with 2 hours use and 2,5 day standby. No way i'll get that again.

ICloud is a battery sucker in my opinion.   It uses data even when all push notifications are off.  If you're connected to 3G and wifi is off, you can watch the data rack up before your eyes while doing absolultely nothing.   Delete the account and it stops.  I'm on the lowest data plan, so i had to get rid of Icloud permanently.  I can't have it using my entire allottment of data for the month while doing nothing, not to mention the battery drain.   Too bad.  I liked the "find my phone" function, but its just not worth the drain at this time.

my 4S was fine with iOS 5.

now with iOS 5.0.1, i can barely last a day with light usage without charging it.

    This is awful.

    Daniel,

Hope you and your team get it together as soon as possible.

Color calibration is coming in later versions, and I'm sorry for being offline for a while. I have been busy with other projects, such as virtualisation. The screen is yellow because of different reasons, such as (mentioned above) color calibration, manufacturer and more. The battery issue is still being investigated. It seems like there is something with a built inn app (no names mentioned!).

umm, Daniel is NOT an Apple employee. If he were he would have been fired by now for violating company policy.

Seeing as none of your 'fixes' have worked to restore the battery life on my iPhone 4S running iOS 6.1.1 I think there is more to it in my case.

I am not hating on you. I appreciate the advice you give to us all.

Now, my problem. My phone was FLAWLESS until the update.

Now my battery drains at about 2-3 % every few minutes. Currently at 49%*.

It freezes seldomly when unlocking, sometimes while I text. My words will disappear, then reappear and when I type the words I type disappear but are still there cause I can highlight and copy them.

So little bugs I can live with. Those rarely ever happen.

However my battery life I need.

Again. It was flawless before the update. This stuff never happened.

My phone is on mint condition. Placed it in a defender series otter box before I left the store. And I only remove it to wipe dust off the phone and charge it.

So it's not misuse. Never dropped it.

Could this be a bug or defective hardware?

I've been patient, waiting for the bug to be fixed

. Now I'm slightly peeved. If its my hardware that apple sold me less than 1 year ago. I'll get it tested and replaced for free right?

This is my first iPhone and I do enjoy it. Love it. Recommended it a lot.

If this is not resolved. I will never buy apple again. Bad first impression to me.

I'm only one person. But one person who cares about being treated right by the people who sell me such items.

Thank you for your time :)

Battery at 46% now. After a 2 minute message.

    That's not right.

    Sincerely,

    Annoyed apple user.
