Unread SMS/iMessage incorrect on iOS5
Running iOS 5, my SMS/iMessage count shows several (3) unread messages when everything is read inside. I've tried rebooting, etc but nothing is working. i'm puzzled

I've seen this when I have multiple devices sharing iMessage.
E.g.
If you have setup an iPod touch, or iPad to share your iMessage account.
In this scenario, if you have sent/received a message using another device, your iPhone will show the conversations, but they don't appear as if they are 'unread' when you view all your texts. The text icon however does show you have unread texts.
If you open and then close the conversations that occurred from using your other device, the counter will reset.
I have the same problem, and I don't have messaging on another device. I certainly don't want to delete all of my sms conversations.
Don't know if you have already fixed it, but I had the same problem on my iPad 2 (iOS 5). Then it helped turning it off and on again.
You don't have to delete them, just open them. (Still time consuming.) One or more of them is incorrectly being counted as unread; apparently opening a thread recalculates this. Worked for me anyway, finally!
