IPad (2) Recovery Mode, not getting detected by ITunes on the PC

While upgrading my IPad (2) to IOS5, it has gone into Recovery Mode. NOt it does not get detected by ITunes on the PC - doesn't appear on the sidebar. I've completely uninstalled all itunes and other Apple components and reinstalled Itunes on PC - no change. IPad is still in starting screen mode and not detected by PC. Please help.
