Problems with enhanced photos and orientation

I've just gotten an iPhone 4S and have been using it for the past few days. I'm amazed at the camera quality and the auto-enhance feature for photos but I was shocked to find out that photos synced to my PC via USB or Photo Stream are not the ones with the enhancements. Instead, only the original photos are synced. There is also the problem of some videos and photos being in the wrong orientation (i.e. upside-down) and this is a pain to upload onto Facebook or YouTube. I've seen a few threads with similar problems but I haven't seen one about the issues with the enhanced photos. C

Yes, both of our 4s phones have the same issue. Videos and photos taken with the Volume button up, create the photos upside down if you manually pull the content off the iPhones. If you use Windows 7 'import photos and videos' by right clicking on the iPhone in My Computer, the photos import correctly, but videos are still upsode down.

However the front facing camera is fine, if you take a photo with that, and pull it off.

I have a Apple case open for this exact issue, and first it's a software issue, then a possible hardware issue, etc.

No answer back this week on what I can try next. Multiple restores to factory settings do not correct the issue.

EDIT:

not positive on the enhanced photos....let me try.

Thanks for responding and assuring me that I'm not the only one with this issue. I think we need more replies here to get the problem elevated. Please try out the enhanced photo transfers to see if you have the same issue. I use Windows Live Photo Gallery to import the photos so some of them are auto-rotated, but as you said videos are sometimes upside-down still. I don't know if it's Picasa that's smart or if it's reading the EXIF data because if I use Google Picasa to view both the photos and videos, they appear correctly. However, the enhanced edits are not showing.

I am trying to take photos of stuff and see a large change in enhance, but hard to tell. I assume you are saving the photo after enhance is done, silly question I know.

Of course last week when I called in for the upside down photos my call was the first they have heard of the problem, sure it is.....

I was taking photos using the volume button and Emailing them to Apple, all verious sizes, all were upside down.

Don't get me started on the battery life....

Yes, of course I've saved the photos after editing. The edits are present in the Camera Roll and are reversible too. I've sent a feedback to Apple about the both the rotation and enhancement issues via their online form but I guess it'll just be ignored. Please continue to post about any developments and I hope more users will too share their experiences here in this thread.

Battery life isn't that bad if you turn off the Location-based timezone and a couple of other things, though it's worse than my previous iPhone 4, which could easily last a good 2 days with moderate usage.

For videos and photos that are upside-down, it's because the programs used do not read the files' EXIF data. Use Picasa to view images or videos and everything will be the right way up. Or use Quicktime for the video files. However, the problem still exists for the auto-enhanced photos. Can others confirm that they have the same problem too?

I'm having this problem too! I synced my iPhone 4 to iPhoto and only just realized that only the originals are imported. It seems that auto enhance only works on photos saved in the Camera Roll instead of photos synced from iPhoto or your computer.

When I tried to auto enhance photos synced from the computer, it forces me to save it to the camera roll instead of just saving where it is.

Have you heard anything new regarding the enhanced photo transfer issues? The only way I could get the enhanced pictures on my PC was to email them to myself, 5 at a time (which is very time consuming when you need to email 2 or 3 hundred...). It seems, however, that after I've uploaded the pics from my email, the quality is slightly diminished. That's the only thing I've been able to figure out. It would be nice to simply sync enhanced photos....it really shouldn't even be a problem. Come on Apple....
